Re: new again here, about to join you
Welcome back! I also joined years ago (2005 I think?) and then never went through with it due to college and life. Finally decided to just suck it up and get braces last year and I could not be happier with my decision (except wishing I had done it 8 years earlier...)

Re: Brackets on second molars
THanks for the feedback, yall. I guess having the second molars bracketed/banded is more common than I thought it was. And, hey, I guess that means we'll be moving into the next phase of treatment, which is AWESOME. However.... I can't shake the anxiety about the appointment this afternoon. I'm not...

I would personally go with the better ortho. If it's the one that has you in braces until you're 22 (the horror!), then so be it.

Re: What to eat in the days after braces are applied?
Ground beef, soft pastas (spaghetti was hard to eat... go for something less stringy, like ziti/penne), oatmeal, applesauce, yogurt. It's also a great excuse to eat plenty of ice cream and pudding ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Brackets on second molars
The Damon system uses brackets with buccal tubes on the molars instead of molar bands. Mine have been braced since day 1, but they weren't attached to the archwire until later.

Re: Damon Braces confused.
My first rectangular wires were, by far, the most painful part of the braces experience so far. What you've described sounds perfectly normal
It does get better and the future wire changes shouldn't be as bad.

Re: Frequency of dental cleanings?
Both my ortho and regular dentist said I would be fine keeping my 6 month routine. I even asked if I should go more often and they said it's not necessary (I'm very good about brushing and flossing... my dentist said I'm basically the ideal patient. Not to brag or anything :P) As long as you brush a...

Agreed with djspeece. Call your ortho ASAP. I would be surprised if you aren't supposed to be changing them.

Re: Elastics question
It's possible he told you to wear them at night because you'd be more likely to wear them as prescribed if you didn't have to wear them all day (not you, personally... just as a patient in general). It can't hurt to ask if you can try wearing them full time and I would let him know about the pain yo...

Re: chichi is braced!
Are you still doing well with the new wires? Your signature tells me you'll possibly have an adjustment on the 21st of March...one day after mine! P.S. Canada is kicking butt in the Olympics :-* I'm done with these wires... NEXT! But seriously, I don't feel them anymore. I know things are moving be...

Re: Dude Braces @ 25 --- MapleLeafMan888 My Story
Congrats on adjustment #4! That sucks about the wire though... I wouldn't have thought it would make that much of a difference either. I hope things move right along for you despite this setback. Your new elastics go from upper canines to lower laterals? That has to be really annoying... I can't sta...

Re: can i remove the posts off my tracks ?
wax does seem to be helping but the way they are mounted on the inscisors mean they stick out and catch my lip inside and out when i smile ..... will have to refrain from smiling for the foreseeable future My lips sometimes get caught on them too, but I would never even consider trying to clip them...

I agree. Please do NOT do this. You will almost certainly need them later in your treatment.

Re: Elastics question
I have the triangle configuration, but I wear them 24/7. I only experienced the clenching for the first few days after starting them. I've found that my teeth will actually start to hurt when I leave them out too long - it's great incentive to wear them all the time. Perhaps you're encountering it m...

Re: Best way to make a selfie of your smile
I use my phone. I face the camera towards me and use a mirror to see the screen to make sure I have a good angle and my whole mouth is in the shot.
