Re: Post extractions - Dished in mouth!
As I was going to post this, the website showed me that you have posted, Chichi. I just noticed that you're from NJ as well. I don't know if you're a mom of a child getting braces, but will you be willing to share any info about your orthodontist, if you're happy with them. I live in Central NJ. I'...

Re: Post extractions - Dished in mouth!
I really wish someone would be able to revive her deleted posts as I want to see what her concerns were. Her story is literally EXACTLY the same as yours... teenage daughter, extractions at 12 or 13, mother doesn't like the way the kid's face looks anymore, mother kept pushing "functional"...

Re: Post extractions - Dished in mouth!
I thought that this story sounded like I had read it before. But it seems like the link is just responses to posts that are no longer there? How is that possible? Can you delete your own past posts? IDK.... Exactly what I was going to say... the original poster's posts are gone and that's not somet...

Re: chichi is braced!
Hi Chichi. I also saw your signature in another post and thought I would have a nosey. Your teeth are looking great. I dont know any wire sizes etc that I have, my ortho doesn't tell me, all I know is the wires are pretty thick now. Thanks, Pacha! I only know what I have because I look at the compu...

Re: chichi is braced!
Hey Chichi! I saw your signature in another post and noticed you have an adjustment coming up about 6 days before mine. As always I'm curious to know what goes on as far as new wire sizes and elastics configurations, so be sure to update for a curious maple leaf... 8) Later! Of course... I always d...

Re: Talk me out of doing it...
I also can't talk you out of it. I already feel so much more confident in my smile and my bite has improved tremendously. I guess I could tell you about how frustrating the first few weeks were because eating was tough, but that passes. I'm also not a fan of my elastics, but that's because people se...

Re: Ligature question - confused
Was reading here that people are getting their ligs changed every appointment. In have Damon braces, do Damon's have ligs that require changing? Obviously I haven't been to my first adjustment apt yet  No, Damons are self-ligating. We have little doors on our brackets that hold the wire in, so...

Re: First adjustment and no wires changed
TheKT - ligs lose their elasticity and need to be changed often (usually about once a month) in order to keep the wire held tightly in the bracket. Dana - if your teeth are very crowded, the larger wire can pop brackets off or it might apply too much pressure to your teeth, possibly causing damage. ...

Re: Wisdom teeth
Another quick update. All 4 of my wisdom teeth were finally removed on Monday. The procedure was relatively rapid and slightly painful. Congrats! It's such a relief when it's over, isn't it? How are you doing with eating? I had all 4 of mine out years ago and I remember spending several days living...

Re: Told to stop elastics BUT
If you're only in elastics to close gaps, then the powerchains will finish the job, as your ortho said. Enjoy being free of elastics for the time being

Re: Are your braces a topic of conversation?
Yes, people did question it at first. Very few people knew I was getting braces before I actually got them, so everyone else got to be surprised. Almost everyone asked why and said my teeth are straight enough... Even now, my family and friends will ask to see my teeth and then they'll tell me it lo...

Re: Advice needed: Any orthodontist available?
It's about straight teeth, but it's also about correct jaw alignment and proper bite. Regardless, it's clear you aren't happy with the results. I would start with the ortho who did the work since you already put the time and money into it. I'm not sure how your conversation with him went except that...

Re: New to braces: elastics
To be honest, you may think you want elastics right away, but you probably don't. The braces alone will be enough to get used to. You'll have them at the appropriate point in your treatment, whenever that might be. You can ask your ortho what his/her plan is and whether there would be any benefit in...

Re: Advice needed: Any orthodontist available?
I'm honestly going to be of very little help here, but I'm confused. Are your teeth still tilted inwards or are they now flaring out?. On the Ormco website in the section on selective torques, there is a statement that says: To best utilize the clinical advantage of passive self-ligation brackets, i...
