I'm noticing the glue does stain a little bit but once per week I use whitening toothpaste just to keep everything clear and sparkling. I will have no choice, as my ortho only does permanent bonded retainers and essix for night time wear (both included in treatment cost), but this definitely made me feel better about eventually having to wear an essix.

I think one of the things you should really consider when making a decision is the training of the Orthodontist, their experience, and your confidence in them. Please make sure you talk to your Orthodontist about making sure they are really treating your bite and not just focusing on straightening ...

It depends on how many elastics are in your baggies. Mine come in packs of 100.. not sure whether that's standard or not

I usually change mine twice a day. I started out changing them once a day because that's what the assistant said to do, but they lose their elasticity pretty quickly.

Definitely keep those elastics in! Taking them out will only prolong your time in braces and it doesn't sound like that's something you would want.
