Re: Wisdom teeth and braces?

I think, ideally, you would have them out before you get braces, but it can definitely be done while you're in braces. Most of the people I know had braces as teenagers and had them off before the wisdom teeth were even developed. Obviously in that case, the wisdom teeth were removed some years afte...

Re: Bottom left teeth tilted inwards?

While braces are placed on the outside surfaces of teeth (unless you have linguals), the pressure isn't pushing them in unless that's what the ortho is trying to do. A quick braces lesson: The brackets hold the archwires in place. The archwires are what's actually moving your teeth because all they ...

Re: Should I go through with braces?

I agree with mapleleafman. I would suggest going to an ortho for a consultation. The consultation visit is normally free and they will find so many things wrong with your teeth that you and your regular dentist would never expect  I wanted braces for a wonky canine that I always felt ruined my...

Re: Braces tomorrow!

Well this is a very late update but an update none the less!! I've had my braces 2 months and have notices some small changes. Is there a part of the forum where I document changes and updates? I presume 'The bracket club' is just to say hi :) Also I need to figure out how to post pictures!! Right ...

Re: I'm new! I wanted to share my story.

You got me thinking about the cost of braces and parents paying for them. I got braces the first time around 1959 and my parents, who were far from rich paid $2,000US for them. That would be close to $16,000 in today's dollars, about $10,000 more than I just paid for mine. If you look at it like th...

Re: How bad is my crossbite?

I'm not seeing a crossbite. I see that your teeth aren't quite lined up and your bite isn't perfect, but I don't see an actual crossbite.

Re: chichi is braced!

To celebrate my 5 month braceversary, here is my progress so far! Now that I compare the most recent photo with older ones, I realize how much my teeth have moved in the last month. Looking good if you ask me :)

And a slightly early Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow American bracefaces!

Re: I'm new! I wanted to share my story.

I COMPLETELY understand where you're coming from. My parents could have afforded it when I was younger and I even wanted them as a kid. Everyone else had them and I felt left out  My childhood dentist used to tell my parents to bring us to an ortho for a consult and they never did. Fast forwar...

Re: Surgery precautions to take when wearing braces?

I wouldn't worry. You'll probably have to remove anything that you can remove yourself (which is most likely just elastics) and then they'll work around the rest. You can express your concerns to the anesthesiologist, but I'm sure they've dealt with more difficult situations than someone in braces :...

Re: I'm 51 And Have My Debrace Date YAY!!!

This is great!!! My braces come off on 16 December 2013, they will take molds same day and I get my permanent retainer on bottom. My ortho debating (because of me) if permanent on top or removable/wear only at night. Anyone have any suggestions :?: No suggestions as I am still in braces, but I will...

I'm only aware when I smile and when I'm brushing/flossing. Otherwise, I eat what I want and I speak just fine :)
