Re: Proxy brush
I carry a proxy brush at all times. I've never used one between teeth, but I have definitely used them to get food out of my braces when a vigorous swish doesn't do the job completely.

Re: cold sensitivity
I had that happen after one of my adjustments. That was just a wire change, but my top 2 front teeth became sooo sensitive afterwards. It was a pain that shot through my entire body and it was triggered by anything even moderately cold. Fortunately, it only lasted about a week. If it goes on longer ...

Welcome!
I just have to ask one question. Is your name Chell or are you a fan of the Portal games? I got so excited when I saw your username because I love Portal and then I'm like "well, it might not be related to the game"

Re: Are you a mouthbreather
I don't think I was ever a mouth breather, but I completely understand having to focus on opening your mouth. My elastics have really been making me clench a lot, so when I open my mouth to speak, I have to tell myself to open wider... otherwise, I'm just talking through my teeth.

I've been in Rabbits for about 6 months, but I also spent a little time in Dolphins.

Mine are in all the time except when I'm eating or brushing. Maybe I should be getting an A+ because I always know where my elastics are, so I have no reason for the sweats

Re: chichi is braced!
Hey, as always I hope your adjustment goes great! Thanks! It went well, as always. This was a 75-minute appointment. We took pictures, x-rays, and repositioned a whopping 4 brackets (turns out it's a very unpleasant feeling when the ortho is removing brackets). I still have the 0.018x0.025 on botto...

Re: any good advise on people new with powerchains and elast
Honestly, just keep wearing the elastics as you're supposed to. I got to a point where they would start to hurt if I didn't have them in.
Since the powerchains are always on, you'll get used to them the same way you get used to a new wire. It'll get better

Give it a month or so. In my experience, you always notice them, but you get used to having them.

Re: New to Braces- need tips
I use a regular manual toothbrush and I learned to floss without even needing a threader. I didn't buy a waterpik or anything else. The one thing that has been invaluable to me since being in braces is having one of those little teepee brushes handy (my ortho gave them to me, free of charge). It jus...

Re: Getting Smartclip braces
That's so funny that you bought a chew toy! When I first got my braces, it felt soooo good to clench my teeth. I totally understand why a chew toy would make it feel a bit better. That feeling does subside though, so I don't know how much you'll need that chew toy in a few weeks lol

Re: To opt for surgery, or not...
My boyfriend has a pretty decent overjet. He had braces as a teen and his ortho recommended surgery to bring his lower jaw forward. His parents asked him whether or not he wanted surgery, and, of course, he said no. Now, as an adult, his teeth are still relatively straight, but he has said that, loo...

Re: Bracket Position
I have an adjustment tomorrow that will include x-rays, pictures, and bracket repositioning. I'm coming up on 9 months in braces. I don't know if this is a standard timeframe, but it couldn't hurt to ask. Like others have said, it might be that your roots are lined up, but you aren't seeing that on ...

Perfectly normal. Sirwired's explanation is exactly what I would have wanted to say if I could figure out the words lol
