It's strange. I have heard some places that it does and I have heard some places it doesn't. I have seen orthodontists on medical sites say they do take longer and some say they don't. I don't know if it's just a matter of opinion, or how the orthodontist is doing it or what brand they are using. It...

I don't imagine that all people who like braces are creepy, but this guy did go a bit over the line. Maybe he was just being friendly, but he did push boundaries a bit. I like the look of braces but I now how to admire them and not be creepy

Congrats. I had metal ones when I was younger and might have to get them again. Not sure as of yet

Note: I am not a professional, this is just opinion. I imagine it's possible but probably doesn't happen often. And if they do go under, they are more likely then not the ones you can tell are in trouble (lack of patients, dirty, etc)
