Re: June/July Surgery Buddies
Nozzelnut: Ok so TMI time, so I can get my tongue into my nasal cavity like inside my mouth and that's where I can feel it. I will bring it up with the surgeon but given the position its probably close to where the bone was cut to move my upper jaw. Its not painful for now but I know i'm not healed ...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies
So I'm 5 days post op now and starting to feel a whole lot better only today. I think the first few days are the worst as you and your body are adjusting to what its gone through. First few days were standard although i managed to figure out how to drink through a cup straight away and no im an expe...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies
snapdresser: Its a one piece LeFort and its all to help line up my bite and improve my profile and to add a bit more of a jaw line. He said its the same cut as the SARPE but no cut down the middle teeth. To begin with I had a narrow upper jaw, small lower jaw with an overjet of around 5mm. For my up...

Re: Do I need a jaw surgery or lefort?
Im 28 years old (male) and im in the same boat as you. I grew up never being able to breath through my nose properly and pretty much sleep with my mouth open. My sister had the same issues and she went through orthodontics plus BSSO to extend the lower jaw. After she told me about it and I saw the r...

Re: SARPE Surgery
Yeah I thought they would close a LOT quicker then they did but my ortho wanted the teeth to settle as much as possible. I did not have the braces on while I was turning the expander. Actually I was originally told I would have braces put on 2 months after I finished expanding but was lucky that som...

Re: SARPE Surgery
My experience with the gap is as follows: Cranked twice a day I think a few days after surgery for around 12 days in total. The gap grew to 8mm in total & i looked like a hillbilly. This was the worst part of it for me but I just rocked it and didn't get too many looks. As far as closing it, I d...

Re: SARPE Surgery
Hi, When I had mine put in swallowing anything was hard and so was eating. liquid in the mouth is difficult because the tongue will no longer be able cover the roof of your mouth and makes swallowing awkward at first. At first being able to swallow and eat is hard. Food will stay on top of the expan...

Re: SARPE Surgery
Hi all, First off a big thanks to all who have contributed to this thread as it made my SARPE journey a lot easier & manageable. I had the surgery completed on the 24th March & also had all 4 wisdoms taken out at the same time. I wasn't in too much pain and I only had minimal swelling compar...

Re: having wisdom teeth out at the SAME time as surgery?!
Depending on what sort of surgery you are having may effect why they do it. For the lower jaw removal of unerupted & impacted wisdoms can mean they need to remove some bone which can then weaken the lower jaw making it prone to break when the surgery is completed.

Re: Oral Surgeon in Melbourne Australia
Hey Purkulator, About 2 weeks ago Dr Andrew Bridgeman did my SARPE/SAME surgery as well as removing all 4 wisdoms and I will use him again to also complete my lower jaw surgery when the time comes. From what I hear he has a great reputation for the work he does. Staff in the hospital would complimen...
