Re: Are elastics as annoying as braces?
I think any new orthodontic change is a little uncomfortable for a few days. Once your teeth are in the right position, the discomfort subsides. Elastics can be annoying, but it all depends on where they're placed and how tight they are. I wouldn't worry about them too much. Also, (orthodontic sin c...

Re: I will get debraced soon....
I'm so sorry to hear this, Anna! I actually came here as soon as I could to see amazing photos of your debraced teeth.. :( I understand what you mean, though. It's hard to see the procedure as finished when you're not fully happy with the result. On the other hand, maybe you could look at it this wa...

Re: I will get debraced soon....
I think you're ready for debracing!! Good luck and enjoy your new smile without braces!!! (By the way, I recently met a young woman with a slight off-center midline like yours and, honestly, if I weren't going through this procedure myself, I wouldn't have even noticed it. More importantly, she was ...

Re: open bite progress after 7 months
Thank you for your very loving and encouraging messages, dearest Bickerchick and Parapian. That was just what I needed. My ortho has tried midline elastics, I have faithfully worn them 24 hours a day for 3 months and now I am still wearing them (only at night). But my ortho says he cannot make it m...

Re: open bite progress after 7 months
Wow, Anna, I'm actually ready to fly over and have a serious talk with your orthodontist! Have you asked him why he can't fix your midline? What exactly has he tried and for how long? As far as I know, you should be able to fix a midline with elastics alone. If you want my honest opinion about your ...

Re: Open Bite- Retention and Elastics
I'm worried about it, too. My orthodontist hasn't talked to me about what he's planning on doing with retention, but I hope I can trust him. Right now, I'm nowhere near the end of my treatment, so I have to keep an eye on progress and regress as well. I hope it doesn't end up in surgery. Good luck w...

Re: feeling alone- unsupportive husband
Yes, I noticed Tom Cruise's midline. I'm surprised he didn't get that fixed.. Maybe he couldn't or didn't want to be in braces any longer. Again, I don't see anything wrong with your midline either from a cosmetic perspective. Your teeth look great! But if you're not happy with it and you don't like...

Anything spontaneous without having to cut it up into pieces first or worry about it being too hard for my brackets.

Re: Will I regret metal braces on the top teeth?
I have metal top and bottom (my orthodontist recommended metal, because of the heavy lifting he would have to do with elastics). I don't regret it one bit. What also made me feel better was when one of my friends said: "They look like jewels in your mouth! I wish I had braces just for that.&quo...
