Re: Starting my journey
3 Weeks post-op! My energy levels are finally back to normal, but I just hate being wired shut... my teeth are absolutely tired from being clenched all the time and it just feels like my teeth are getting weaker from not being very sanitary with them :( I can only brush the outsides of my teeth and ...

Re: Almost 1 week post op BSSO only :)
Hey deathorglory! This might be a "TMI" question but... how regular have your bathroom trips been? I'm a bit worried in that I haven't really had a natural "session" in a while... I've gone twice, but both times required me to drink a bunch of magnesium citrate laxative to actual...

Re: Starting my journey
Thanks deathorglory! The annoying thing about having a liquid diet is that I get hungry soooo easily! I'm already spending so much time "drinking" 5 times a day, it is just insane! I just absolutely can't wait to be where you are at now! Soft diet! I'm already craving some scrambled eggs t...

Re: Starting my journey
It's officially 2 week post-op for me! I've been doing well, my swelling has pretty much gone down and some of my numbness has disappeared too! Sleep has returned almost back to normal... I think I just wake up because I am always in fear of my lower jaw being moved in my sleep. Might be irrational ...

Re: Starting my journey
Thanks, RidingBoots! I'm recovering well now, actually! Today is Day 8 in recovery! So my recovery is going well. I'm able to take 1.5 mile walks in the afternoon now. I live in Southern California, so the weather is quite nice and being off from work, I am able to appreciate things and just take my...

Re: Starting my journey
This was Day 4 post-op, April 11, 2015. I feel a bit better now compared to the previous days. My default answer to "How are you feeling" by friends and family when something along the lines of this: Apr. 7th - *Wakes up* I'm sleepy.. Apr. 8th - Death. Apr. 9th - Death beyond death. Apr 10...

Re: Starting my journey
Phew! I had my surgery on April 7th. I got to the Hospital at around 4:45 AM and they didn't put me to sleep until about 7:30 AM or so. With the help of anesthesia, the surgery felt fast. It just felt like closing my eyes and waking up to feeling like my face got hit by a bus. I was told the surgery...

Re: Starting my journey
Hi Everyone, Looks like my surgery got rescheduled to April 7 at the same time. But that's ok! Time's flying by so fast so the surgery date still hasn't hit me yet. I'm starting to read up more about recovery and just general overall experience. Since mine will be double jaw, I've been reading this ...

Re: Starting my journey
More progress today! I finally got a date to get my heavy archwires, last few CT scans and finally a surgery date! Surgery is set to be March 31 at 7:30 AM! Time has flown by pretty quickly and surgery now feels like it is tomorrow now that I know the date! I guess I should start reading up on how t...

Re: Starting my journey
Just another update, I visited the hospital which I will be having surgery at (UCLA) and they took more impressions, measurements and asked me questions about my health. Everything is looking good so far and I'm ready for surgery. They will be getting back to me on a date on when exactly, but they a...

Re: Starting my journey
Hi everyone! It's already been about 7 months since I've been on braces for double jaw surgery. Time has flown by pretty quickly and I thought I would never hear the words "ready for surgery" from my surgeon... Okay well sort of. So I had an adjustment on Jan 26th, and my ortho told me to ...

Re: Starting my journey
I think most of my cost will come surgery time, it was estimated to be 10K out of pocket :-\ I had my FIRST adjustment today! The orthodontist didn't say much except that now he installed power chains on my top front teeth to close a gap that has formed. I really feel it pulling my teeth right now b...

Re: Starting my journey
It has been 3 weeks since I've got my braces on! Since the 3 weeks, I've noticed some progress in my bite. I had a cross bite in which I bit down, I first made contact with my back right molars and had to adjust to get the left back molars touching each other. Now, after some time, this is noticeabl...

Re: Stupid question... Can there be no pain?
Wow, everyone! Thank you for sharing all your experiences! Glad to know no pain can be a normal thing! As to my thoughts about feeling no pain meaning my braces "aren't as effective", I noticed that my bite has changed a bit, for the better! My back molars used to never land gracefully bef...

Re: What does it feel like on the first day with braces?
I personally had no pain. It just felt like something was getting in the way of my mouth!
