Re: I have a date for my SARPE in March. Tips please kind pe

Hi, I had SARPE last October and am still wearing the expander and now braces also. It was a bit daunting when they fitted it in my mouth, lots of saliva and it covers much of the roof of your mouth. 3 days and my mouth and saliva got used to it. The surgery was fine, my nose area was the sorest (I ...

Re: Sarme/ Sarpe newbie

Hi, I had Sapre 4 weeks ago! Yes it is full on hey.... The swelling is painful, I still have some, but it's much better :-) Some say it's harder than jaw surgery... Due to increasing the width everyday. I only turn mine once a day....don't know how you do it 3 times!! I was on Endone post op, what d...

Re: SARPE- Costs/insurance

$38,000 seems a bit excessive for SARPE - an hour long surgery?? What else are they doing to you?? I'm in Australia and mine is costing about $3200 (PHI refunds me $1400). It should be a lot less than jaw surgery...it's a procedure. I have one of our top surgeons also. Why would you need 3 surgeons ...

Re: July Surgery Group??

Oh wow Lissy, that sounds like a long ordeal! I had braces as a child, but that only fixed half the problem! I am a mouth breather, long face type look, I have had excessive teeth wear, cross bite, gum issues. My profile is recessed chin, gummie smile. I revisited an Orthodontist as an adult and was...

Awesome how exciting!

(I have an expansion procedure in September....double jaw surgery next year).

I love hearing everyone else's stories! What issues did you have going on before deciding to go ahead?

Does it feel strange to know its so soon?! :-*

Re: SARPE Date!

Yes agree!! My surgeon was telling me half of Melbourne has had this done and I was like yeah right! As it turns out,a few people I know have in past years and I had no idea, until now. I am also having the septoplasty ... I have a very narrow airway, he said he would also make my nose look a bit be...

Yes many of the Sarpe threads are old, nice to know we are not alone though. Thanks for the replies! Yes UnevenJAG, sounds ...

Re: SARPE Date!

Hi,

Thank you. I don't have a date as yet, but I think I will have by the end of this year.

My surgeon estimated 12 months from starting, so could be around September 2015.

Have you had or having Surgery?

SARPE Date!

After 3 years of deciding I have finally elected to have double jaw surgery. The first part of my process will be a SARPE and I will be having this done on September 18th, then there is no backing out of it!!! I hope it doesn't feel too weird as it's going to be in there for a few months! So the jou...

Anyone been a patient of my surgeon

I am in Australia and Andrew Heggie will be my surgeon, would love any feedback from current/previous patients of his.

I have met him and read general comments on the web about him being 'a good one'.

Just out of interest really.

Thanks.

Re: SARPE

Your so right.

I had wisdom teeth done and it's pretty easy, I don't imagine jaw surgery/ sarpe to be anything like it! There is no way you could compare. So much more intense with the surgery where things are being moved around structurally.
