Re: DEBRACED!!! Kiligeorge's Story! Braces for an openbite.

I can't believe it, but they came off today!!! I am so happy with my results. My total time in braces was 23 months. I got bonded retainers on the lower and upper, though on the upper it's only behind my top two teeth. I am also getting a backup pair of the clear retainers on Thursday. I am so happy...

Re: Kiligeorge's Story! Braces for an openbite.

Hello! I know I haven't posted in a year but I have been so busy with work and having a baby I just haven't had time. Anyways, my bite has been closed for a long time now, and my treatment has gone really well. I'm starting to get a bit anxious though, as back in November I was told the braces would...

Re: Pregnancy and Braces... and will these things ever come off?!?

I had braces during my entire pregnancy and the only thing that was an issue was taking ibuprofen. I was told not to take it during pregnancy and it's what worked best to handle pain from adjustments. I just had to take tylenol instead.

Re: Kiligeorge's Story! Braces for an openbite.

So I am now a little over 7 months into my treatment and it's going really well and I'm happy with my results so far. My ortho said that I have progressed way faster than he anticipated. My bite is very close to where he wants it to be. I just switched to wearing triangle configuration elastics arou...

Re: Kiligeorge's Story! Braces for an openbite.

I'm really hoping to be done sooner than 24 months, though my main concern is retention, so if that means longer in braces so be it. My teeth have closed even more in the past few days from when I posted that picture. I have my next appointment tomorrow morning so I'm very anxious to see what my ort...

Re: Things I should have on hand for brace day

Yes, lots of soft foods around for meals/snacks. Some people are able to eat normal again within a few days, some people it takes a couple of weeks. Applesauce, icecream, smoothies, refried beans, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes are all good in addition to what you listed. My husband made a lot of v...

Re: Kiligeorge's Story! Braces for an openbite.

I realize I have not updated in a while but there hasn't been anything big to write about. As I have now had my braces for just over 6 months I wanted to share a couple of progress pictures. I have now been wearing elastics for about a month. Mine are Class 3, so they go from the second from back to...

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.

I'm not even two whole months into treatment and I've committed so many! I love popcorn and still eat it, lots of chips and crackers, and even gum a few times. I didn't realize soda and sugar was supposed to be avoided. I don't drink soda regularly but I've had a couple and had a lot of sugary treat...

Re: is it much easier to close your lips after debracing?

I have a little bit of lip incompetence too (made worse by braces), and I asked the oral surgeon I had a consult with about jaw surgery if a genio would help with the lip incompetence. He thought it might actually make things worse with the lip incompetence... though he had never done a genio for th...

Re: Kiligeorge's Story! Braces for an openbite.

Had my second adjustment today, it was rather painful. I did not have the IPR, that is tentatively scheduled for my next visit. I did get several spacers put in on my bottom teeth. I forgot this was happening today, and was surprised how painful it was to put them in. Having a lot of pressure right ...

Re: Kiligeorge's Story! Braces for an openbite.

My thought is 20-24 months is pretty long. Everything doesnt seem to be off very much. Do you think having braces before made it easier or harder mentally to do it again? of Yeah I'm hoping I can be done earlier, and they said there's a chance I will be. They said adults tend to finish sooner just ...

Re: Opinion on Orthodontics and Oral Surgery

Are there any other othrodontists in your area that you could get a consult at? My bite is off as well (open bite in front), and my ortho is confident that he can fix it without jaw surgery. Were the ortho's you already met with unwilling to try and treat your bite just with braces? Have you looked ...

Re: Kiligeorge's Story! Braces for an openbite.

Well had my first adjustment this morning. They trimmed the wire that had popped out and I got my ties changed out, and that was it. Next appointment I am getting spacers and IBR on my bottom teeth. My ortho is hoping to pull my bottom teeth back because they slant outwards, and wants more room to w...

Re: Kiligeorge's Story! Braces for an openbite.

I meant to update a few weeks ago on a different development. I had a consultation with a maxilofacial surgeon. He said he thought my case was borderline for jaw surgery because my open bite is "mild". He thought trying to fix it with elastics or possibly TAD's was the better option, and s...

Re: Kiligeorge's Story! Braces for an openbite.

Going in for my first adjustment this week and wondering if I will start on elastics. As luck would have it my bottom wire popped out of my back right molar tooth while I was eating dinner. Of course this happens on a Friday night. My husband and I both tried to pop it back in but it wouldn't go, so...
