Re: anybody with only a bonded retainer?

Thank you for your post: interesting information. I'm definitely sticking with Hawleys but now I'm trying to decide if I want to invest an additional $350 (+ an additional $175 to have the upper Essix retainer remade when I get 8 crowns) for the Essix, too. I read repeatedly that Essix doesn't affec...

Re: Hawley color

Stell4r, you should always have a choice in what kind of treatment you receive.. I do know what you mean though. My ortho is so persistent I keep my Hawley I'd probably have to see another ortho if i wanted to purchase an Essix.

Re: do teeth or your bite settle/ improve after braces?

My knowledge on the topic only comes from what my ortho has said. He says that teeth will absolutely settle after getting braces removed. He said clinically any teeth movement up to 1mm (nothing more) is considered natural (don't know if I agree with it.. but that's what he told me a few days ago). ...

Re: survey eating with retainers in or out

LOL I have always read and been told to take my retainer out while I eat. I couldn't imagine how awkward it would feel to eat with it on. Think about all the chewing and food that would get pushed against the retainer while you eat. It would just plane damage it and break it faster.

Re: Hawley color

I have never been given the option. Not a big deal for me because mine is pink so it blends in well with gums plus the wire isn't too noticeable when I wear them.

Re: anybody with only a bonded retainer?

Love this thread, pumped to give you my findings! I feel there is a world of disagreements between orthos & dentist... Why though? Ortho = Their primary goal is to provide you any service they can to make your teeth straight Dentist = Their primary goal is to provide you and service they can to ...

Re: is a 6mm underbite 'bad'

I'm sure the feedback above has been great but just think about this. If you're truly considering the potential for surgery then the most important opinion to get is one of a trusted dentist (or other doctor in that field). Though on the bright side with all the information you are getting from the ...

Fixing Front Tooth Gap: Bonding vs. Permanent Retainer

Hello! Question Dental bonding or permanent retainer to fix space in two front teeth... What would you chose? (long term choice, not for a quick fix) I told my orthodontist months after getting my braces off I saw a space form in my two top front teeth. I have hawley retainers and no permanent retai...

Re: RETENSION PHASE (POST BRACES) Am I overthinking?

Thank you for your recommendation. Do you have experience using it? After looking at it online it requires a lot of compliance but seems to be very effective! Yea... the photos are correct. When I originally got my braces removed I wasn't entirely happy but I just didn't know what to think. I felt o...

Great progress thus far! I love reading these posts as it reminds me of the great feeling I use to get when seeing notable improvements when I had braces!

Don't forget to keep us posted when your braces come off!

Re: In the final stretch...stupid tiny space won't close!!!

Perhaps there are just other methods to be tried. I had a similar issue and my ortho chose to wrap the wire in my braces in some external wiring and wound it around each spot. I'm not entirely sure why but it seemed to work well.

RETENSION PHASE (POST BRACES) Am I overthinking?

I had braces for 5 years. I got my braces removed about 8 months ago (December 22nd, 2013) and I've noticed some things along the way... I was originally forced to wait one week for my retainers (hawley) to come in (no permanent retainer installed) which I wasn't a fan of but I went with it... I too...
