How is everyone doing with their braces? Share your updates!
Hi all, I noticed this forum has gone quiet over the past few months so I thought it'd be nice to open a new thread so everyone can share their latest update. I got this idea because next Sunday will be my one year anniversary with lingual braces! I can't believe how quickly time has flown by. I sti...

Re: Elastics with Lingual
Right, so here's an update on the elastics situation. I had an appointment with my ortho at the end of February and he showed me the attachments he wanted to put on my canines - turns out it wasn't a bracket but a small teeth-coloured button to glue at the very top of my canines. We tried them on, a...

Re: Elastics with Lingual
Thanks for your advice! My appointment is on Saturday and after careful consideration I don't think I will accept braces on my canines. I have spent so much money on "invisible braces" (which aren't that invisible to me as they are so uncomfortable to wear) that I don't want to have braces...

Re: Getting rid of the lisp :((
Yes, it does get better after a while. Your mouth will adjust ! My speech was horrible when I got my braces fitted. I wasn't prepared for it... I had been told that it would be a bit uncomfortable when eating and speaking... Actually, I couldn't even articulate words properly... Anyhow, it's been 6 ...

Re: Elastics with Lingual
Hi, my ortho wants to place white brackets on my upper canines to use elastics (I had upper premolars extractions so this would be to close the gap faster). Not too chuffed about it since it would be visible... Linguals are annoying enough so if on top of that I get brackets on two of my front teeth...

Re: just had my upper and lower lingual braces fitted
Hello robbievega, Congratulations on getting your braces fitted! It's great that you are adjusting already. I remember that by day 2 i wanted to rip the braces off my mouth as I was so miserable. Now it's all good though, just a bit of patience and practice. And I agree, water definitely helps! Good...

Re: Dental hygiene routine
That's great - I have had good feedback from my dentist too, so maybe I should cut myself some slack. I'm just worried because the dentist can't actually see what's going on behind the brackets (they're so big after all...), so that's making me paranoid. And yes, like you I only take the waterpik if...

Dental hygiene routine
Hi everyone, I couldn't find a topic on this question. What is your dental hygiene routine? Have you changed your diet since you got the braces fitted? Ever since I got my lingual braces fitted I've been paranoid about cavities. I have a dark spot (which has been there for about a year) on one of my...

Re: Timeline
1. Why did you choose lingual braces? When I chose to fix my teeth, lingual braces always were the option I had in mind. Although I am 26, I look very young, and couldn't imagine myself going to work looking like a teenager! So, when my ortho suggested the "incognito" treatment as an opti...

Re: How long did it take you to speak "normally" again ?
Hello everyone! Here's a little update :) It's been exactly 10 weeks since I got my lingual braces fitted (upper and lower arches, for the reminder). I can't believe how quickly time has gone by. It's a busy time of year and I haven't been thinking about my braces too much. I'm now pretty settled in...

How often are your appointments, winwired?
That's great news that you now have wires into all the teeth. It means that they've moved and they will probably move even faster now.
What is the estimated duration of your treatment?
Keep us updated !

Re: How long did it take you to speak "normally" again ?
It's been two weeks now, and I have to say things are getting much better. Pain and soreness have now completely disappeared - I still use the odd bit of wax, especially at the back of my teeth where the lower brackets are, but my mouth has adjusted to the braces. I am not using any wax at all today...

Wow, amazing results ! Your teeth are beautiful.
The fact that you got debraced earlier gives hope that not ALL treatments end up longer than expected. That's great !
If I may ask, did you have to correct your bite as well, or just the alignment of your teeth?
