Re: Terrified about the look of braces.
Hi there, I'm 22 and have had metal braces since January. I was a little self conscious at first but I got over it as I know they're not forever so I own them! They don't look bad, treat them as a fashion accessory. I even saw a model in a fashion magazine with some the other day whoop whoop. As for...

Re: Adults With metal braces - are you happy with your choice?
I had to have metal due to having surgery, I was a bit apprehensive beforehand but I'm pretty happy with them. They aren't massive and in your face and no ones said anything mean about them or in fact anything much at all. My thoughts are they're there for a purpose and its not forever

Re: Extraction gaps
Thank you! Mine have seemed to have closed quite a bit in a short space of time. I had my second adjustment today and he said we've just to wait for the lowers to straighten out before we can properly start closing the gaps WOOHOO!

Extraction gaps
Just curious to how long it took for everyone's extraction gaps to close? I had two lower extractions, one side is halfway closed whereas the other side is a quarter closed. I have been braced since the end of January

Re: The beginning is near...
It's been a while since I've posted and ive had my first adjustment at 8 weeks and it appears a lot of improvements have been made. I am currently 10 weeks and have another adjustment in 3 weeks. Really really pleased with the progress I've made. I can't wait for my teeth to be straight and get this...

Re: Couple of Questions
Hi, I'm also 21 and have recently got braces on the NHS. Your teeth do tend to ache a bit at various points during the process but things change all the time. They will probably feel a bit better after a few days, I recommend pain meds. As for breakages, keep away from very chewy and hard foods as t...

Re: Wire came out of buccal tube. Problem?
I've done this a couple of times but I have managed to maneuver back in with a pair of tweezers in front of a mirror. There are some tutorials on YouTube which I found helpful. But if you're in doubt phone your ortho and ask them for advice

Re: The beginning is near...
So it's been 4 weeks yesterday. And I can say there is a bit of visible movement and I now don't notice them in my mouth at all. However I have managed to poke a back wire out a couple of times and have recently lost a back bracket so will be going to get that fixed this week. Other than that all is...

Re: Worst foods to eat with braces
I'm about three weeks in also and I've found those foods to be the easiest to eat. Albeit the getting lodged between brackets and wires. For that I have found it easy just to put food to the back ofmy mouth and chew (I also have build ups) I then rinse water round my mouth and kinda suck my braces c...
