Sorry I don't have experience with that but I do know that surgery is not an effective solution for TMJ, it often only makes it worse. Just wanted to point that out.

So the surgery was only 2-3 hours, or am I missing something?

I would imagine that for both upper/lower and genioplasty it would take somewhere around 6-8 hours.

Judging by your wedding photos, the underbite didn't deter your husband/BF from being attracted to you

by that neanderthal kind of look. It wasn't so noticeable from the front, but from his profile for sure. Just want to point out that the "neanderthal look" is when BOTH jaws are too prominent in the face, not the lower one. Do you really think all neanderthals had underbites? Even m...

Well... I haven't had this surgery but I've read enough to be able to answer your question based on what I know Swelling & depression are both completely normal and temporary. That's why doctors advise that somebody be with you during the first few days so they can keep your spirits up during th...

My appointment

Today had an appointment with an orthodontist. He looked me over and advised against surgery. He said I don't look that bad, and plus, a strong lower jaw is a "masculine trait." He explained to me that because my facial balance looks fine now, the surgeon would have to re-position BOTH jaw...

Check this out. Note the red dot on the neck. http://www.allenhah.com/aj/Images/Day15a.jpg I actually emailed this guy and asked him about it. His response was "Wow, amazing attention to detail, Gene!" But I was right. He explained that yes, even though mostly it was intraoral, there were ...

Wow, Tiffany, thanks a lot for your reply! 8) I'm sure you'll be fine and with the modern technology everything should go smoothly, especially the anesthesia. And indeed, in your case surgery is a necessity, since you're experiencing discomfort/pain (and the good looks will be an added bonus 8) ) BT...

More women undergo this than men?

After browsing the Yahoo Group on orthognathic surgery and visiting a few websites, and then coming here, it seems to me that a lot more women are deciding to undergo this surgery than men.

Am I right? Why is that?

Re: Links To Personal Experiences

http://www.allenhah.com/aj/ <---- By the way. Note that in the post-op pictures, especially the last ones, this guy has pretty noticeable "red dots" on his skin, near both jaws. I have no idea why he didn't address that. But these red dots weren't there in the pre-op photos. I thought all...

Newbie with Underbite (Class III)

Hi guys, I'm a 25-year-old guy living in the USA, looking for comments and advice. I am "fortunate" to have the bite that is the most difficult to correct: an underbite. (a.k.a. Class III) Below is a picture of what my teeth look like now (sorry for the grainy photo, I did my best): http:/...
