Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

I have adjusted to the Hawley retainer - just in time to pick up my Essix today - with a bit of a set back to apply extra pressure on my wayward second upper tooth that seems to prefer to be turned sideways. Its not that its turning now, the tooth seems to be shaped slightly different and seems that...

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

Unless I've brought the braces removal to their attention, very few noticed it on their own. A few friends knew I was counting the day and have oohed and awed with me - very kind friends - but otherwise, I just go on with my life and they don't notice. I've actually slept now 3 nights with the Hawle...

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

Thanks! Today I went for my retainer pick up and more polishing and shaping on the front teeth that are slightly nicked. They are looking even better today. The retainer - argh. I have a sensitive gag reflex - and putting it in made me gag - and then it was removed and sent for adjustment - cutting ...

Re: The Professor's Story of Braces at 40 (with pics)

I am amazed at your transformation. It helps to see your photos! I keep fretting over my "horsey" teeth and my bite alignment on the front - I can feel my bottom teeth behind my top ones - they touch (I worry a bit too much) but seeing your photos of your side profile and your bite - mine ...

Braces off today - looking good feeling weird

I got my braces off today after I started treatment almost 2 years ago and had braces put on 1.5 years ago. My teeth look ok - although the arch is a bit disturbing to me - seems severe compared to what I had before and now I can feel my front upper teeth rub against my inner upper lip - making me f...

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

First, they added my permanent lower retainer. Then.....They took the braces off...but it was not an easy morning. The brackets didn't want to let go - and they were painful to remove. I bit on a wad of cotton - hard while each bracket was chilled and then snapped off. The last bracket - the one on ...

Re: Elastics aahhgggg

The first week is the hardest and here's what I do: When I have my adjustment and come home with instructions for elastics or changes in pattern of elastics - and he says: Wear your elastics 23 hours a day - I work up to it. The first day I'll wear for 8 hours. Then over night. Then I keep adding ho...

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

Thanks! I have no idea other than a bonded lower retainer and some kind of upper. :) I didn't ask! I'll know more in 16 days! :-*

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

The photos are not a good quality as I'm using my iPhone. Mostly for my own benefit - to show off the straightened effect. The color doesn't seem as bad as the photos indicate - hoping that's the case but I do plan on whitening after the shaping heals up! Edited to add: I meant to mention: I've got ...

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

I'm posting my last post before my debonding in 18 days! Super excited! My front center BOTTOM tooth had made big progress but was still not able to move into place because of its width. I ran in early to the ortho's office and they disked (?) the sides on the front bottom teeth, he slightly adjuste...

Shaping teeth - Gritty feeling?

I had my bottom front teeth shaped today - slightly and besides feeling tender and sensitive, they feel "gritty". Is that something that self-polishes to smooth them or is there something I can do to polish them so they don't feel like they were sand-papered?

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

Since my last report, I've had a few changes. My elastics, after 3 weeks, caused a jaw ache so those were stopped during a quick, "lets see what's happening" emergency appointment. Today, at my regularly scheduled appointment big things happened. My front bottom tooth #1 was still not lini...
