Congratulations Lucy! I got my 'toof improvers' off last April so I know your joy. Many, many years of lovely smiles await you. Don't forget to wear your retainers after a few months and the novelty has worn off, mine have shifted just a tiny bit due to the occasional overnight lapse - it's that eas...

Weeheeee Braces Free! Lots of Pics!

Hi! My braces came off in April 2007 and I can honestly say that I love my smile now - it was so worth it! There is not a day that goes by that I am not glad I did it. The journey was fairly easy - 1 and a half years, elastics and powerchains for much of that to reduce my almost 100% overbite to nor...

Nearly there!

Wow - it's been a long time since I posted here, but I've been a regular lurker and have enjoyed reading the posts and hearing how people have got on. I get my braces off on Wednesday 4th April....the magic day! The past few weeks have gone by so slowly, I am too excited! :) I will be sure to post b...

I don't know if this will help - but knowledge is power right? This is my 'just missed having a bite blocker' story....My ortho offered me the option to have a bite blocker or not when my uppers went on. She said that as I was an adult I could be trusted to be careful and not to bite the bottom ones...

I guess you already have your answer, ssfw, but just to confirm...I am using the slits on my ceramics to anchor my elastics. The assistant said they were less likely to come off if I did that rather than wrap the elastic around the whole ceramic. I also have hooks on my metal lowers for elastics and...

I've had elastics for a week and a bit and I can honestly say that I like them because it means I am that bit closer to the end. I have a very simple configuration which I wear 24/7. The first day was not good pain-wize and I reccomend the pain-killers of your choice (mine wereTylenol and chocolate ...

Thanks everyone, that has really put my mind at rest about IPR/shaping teeth. You are all a terrific support! If I can get the shaping done with minimal (acceptable) damage to my enamel then that's terrific because it really would improve things cosmetically. My deep bite seems to have under-worn so...

Me too - because the top of some of my teeth are a bit jagged. Anyone out there had this done? I am concerned about damaging my enamal [sp?] and ending up with 'denture' looking teeth.

Fins - Hi! Can I just get in a quick vent before I reply? I just got elastics from top canines to bottom first molar yesterday and - wow - spacers weren't this bad! Not to worry anyone, because we are all different, but my whole face hurt yesterday - I was sat with a hot water bottle held up to my j...

Blondie - I had the same concerns (you might be able to find a couple of previous threads about this subject if you do a search). Well, I acted confident and the braces didn't make a bit of difference - I got the job! I work in a professional setting in a city and I haven't felt uncomfortable about ...
