Re: Opening vs. closing the gap for missing lateral incisors?
Hello zena, Thanks for your reply. My daughters treatment is underway. I was under pressure to make a quick decision (which I didn't like in itself). The options were: I could commence her treatmemt (that the ortho had decided for her) or not. If I chose not to then she would not be able to access t...

Re: Opening vs. closing the gap for missing lateral incisors?
Hello KsJohn. I wasn't considering the option of dental implants at this stage, more the opening the gap vs. closing the gap argument. ie. opening the gap to make way for bridges, or closing the gap to veneer the canines. My understanding of dental implants is that it is more straightforward and the...

Re: Removing Cosmetic Tooth Bonding
dantocanada - That's great news you have got it sorted but a surprise that your dentist didn't want to do it. When something like this happens it's hard not to lose confidence in their competence. Just out of interest, what is the condition of your teeth after the bonding was removed?

Re: Removing Cosmetic Tooth Bonding
Hi brooks, thanks for pointing that out, I wasn't aware of the difference but have now done a little research. There's also composite resin / composite veneers which I think is the same as 'bonding' then there's porcelain veneers, where the tooth requires more preparation / damage. There's pros &...

Re: Removing Cosmetic Tooth Bonding
By 'bonding' do you mean veneers? I'm in the UK and I think it's the same thing only we call them veneers here. I have 2 missing lateral incisors and have had my canines built up to look like incisors with effectively white filling material which they call a veneer. I had this done for the first tim...

Re: Midline and missing lateral incisor
Sorry, just re-read your question.. About the Invisalign I'm afraid I don't have any personal experiences to talk about except that they do look very impressive! As far as the implants go, my understanding is that it is more straight forward for teeth which have been 'lost' as the jaw bone is alread...

Re: Midline and missing lateral incisor
Hi, I also have missing lateral incisors and have veneers on my canines. I don't know how old you are. I'm 41 and had my first veneers done at around age 16-17 approx 1990, they've only been replaced once, approx 2004. My daughter is 11 and has missing lateral incisors also and is about to embark on...

Opening vs. closing the gap for missing lateral incisors?
My 11 year old dd has 8 missing teeth: 4 wisdom, 2 molars (lower 7s) and 2 lateral incisors. Her treatment plan is open the gap to make way for 2 bridges where lateral incisors are missing. My concern is that her upper molars (number 6s) have not yet erupted. She is due to have braces fitted shortly...
