Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Update: (30 year old guy with an impacted left lower canine who had surgery in early Jan 2015). Had my month X-ray done today 3 months after my exposure surgery. Looks like the canine is slowly moving. Not as fast as I would want it to but at least it's not ankylosed and it's just a matter of time a...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Expanding premolars is one way of making the dental arch bigger. This link below shows one way of making the arch bigger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXTHduyuCXM By creating a bigger arch there is more space created between teeth and thus extractions can be avoided. If your arch is already prett...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Hey SimMermaid! Ask your orthodontist if expanding the premolars is an option for you. Usually orthodontists either remove the third molars to create space (if the arch is already wide) or (if the arch is narrow) they expand the premolars i.e widen the arch (which is what my orthodontist is doing) t...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
I'm in the very beginning right now. Had the surgery to expose my impacted mandibular canine at the end of Jan. Chose not to remove my baby canine until the impacted canine is close to getting there so no gap right now. It's pretty far down right now and almost horizontal too so it could take a whil...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Yeah definitely better to post off pregnancy until you are done with you surgery. Wouldn't recommend delaying surgery as increasing age increases the likelihood of the impacted canine getting ankylosed. As far as lexapro goes, I'm not a psychiatrist but depending on the severity of your psychiatric ...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Hey Kimmyann! I'll be turning 31 in 2 months and have an impacted canine. The decision to get orthodontic treatment was my own so not necessarily dealing with anxiety like you. If you haven't considered invisalign you should think about that as those are barely visible unlike metal braces (I'm getti...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
My impacted canine (lower jaw) is very close to the roots of my incisors but my orthodontist felt that it could be pulled forward and then brought up without affecting the roots.

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Thanks for that post SandSnake. Is your canine maxillary or mandibular and was it impacted on on the lips side or the palate/tongue?
Does anyone have any experience with AcceleDent? Can it be used to bring up the canine faster?

Impacted canine - what's your experience
I'm a 30 year old male who is on his way to getting invisalign treatment. However, before I can get started with the invisalign treatment I have to bring my impacted mandibular (lower) canine up. I still have my baby canine. The mandibular canine's top is in front of my lateral and central incisor r...
