Delayed Unions
I'm three months after a segmental Lefort. My anterior portion (front four teeth) are apparently still loose, but the rest of the maxilla are solid. Still can't bite anything and the stabilizing wire is still in place. The possibility of a second surgery was mentioned, but nothing will be performed ...

Re: LeFort 1 Post-Op Swelling
My experience was pretty much like yours. Yeah, I don't see much difference in swelling since 5 weeks, but my coworkers say they do so I don't really know. My doctor said that those knots on my cheekbones will take a long time to heal like 3-6 months. I know what you mean with impatient though, I ha...

Did any of you get your palette expanded? Or maybe not, but does anyone have sensitivity on their palette?

Re: LeFort 1 Post-Op Swelling
Most swelling faded by 3 weeks, my lips took about 5 weeks, and my cheeks have minor swelling at the 7th week. I look somewhat normal from what people say, but I can still feel and tell there is still swelling in my cheekbone area where the plates are. I had a segmented three piece Le Fort I as well...

Re: I'm such an idiot!
My pre-op assessment was basically a sit down with a nurse and what to expect before and after the surgery. They wanted to make sure the paperwork was inline and needed the contact information of my escort to take me back home. Didn't seem like it was majorly time sensitive, it just needs to be done...

Did they ever tell you what those knots were? Mine aren't close to the brackets at all

Can you two bite into things yet? I thought that would feel more awkward than chewing hard foods.

Lip Paresthesia
I had Le Fort performed a month ago and I was wondering if anyone had the experience of partial paresthesia develop after the majority of swelling dissipated. I was getting most of the sensations back in my lips when all of a sudden one morning I could feel the uneven sensation in half of my lips. I...

Re: How often?
Didn't see you were getting surgery either, but as you get closer your ortho will do final adjustments before putting your teeth into a holding pattern. I got molds done three weeks prior for my surgeon then got hooks on the wire between brackets for surgery. That was the last time I saw my ortho. N...

Re: How often?
I had braces on for a year before my surgery and had two orthodontists during that time. My first changed bands and wire every time, but my second just changed bands to steel ties and back to bands while keeping the wires the same for a few months at a time. Depending on what they are trying to do w...

Re: Face flip flopped
My surgery was in the beginning of May. The only predictions I got were from the CAD drawings in the 2-d dimensions of my face. Wish they had a simulation, but it was a free surgery from the government so they don't have the budget for that extra stuff. I did ask.

Re: Face flip flopped
I'm in a similar situation as you. I undergone a multi-segmented Le fort 1 and my upper jaw got moved 10mm. It seems like my upper jaw alone is barely before my nose. With the addition of my lips and swelling, my lips are way further beyond my nose. I'm torn cause I do have straight teeth now and I ...

I got an upper jaw Le Fort I on April 30 so it is pretty close.
