Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Forgive me but I'm going to spell my last name phonetically so hopefully it won't ever pop up in a Google search... See eye eh* tee tee eye (*like how a Canadian says it) You know my first name already. I'm the only person on FB with my name so I should be easy to find. I only had to type the first...

Re: Positive Jaw Surgery Results?

I am more confident in my smile - I used to refuse to show my teeth as much as possible. My upper face doesn't have that "sunken" look it had before. And my favourite things: 1. I can bite into things properly and eat them properly now rather than having to tear it into pieces. Eating sand...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

And they're off! Feels very odd. They didn't end up putting a permanent retainer behind my top teeth because my bite meant there wasn't enough space. Still a bit worried about my wobbly tooth but my ortho didn't seem worried about it so I better trust her.

I tried to attach pics but it won't work!

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

I've been dreadful at keeping up so here's a few questions: 1. Is anyone still experiencing some numbness? My top gums are sort of 70% feeling and have been for the past 3 months. I suspect they'll never get better. 2. I feel as though my upper jaw is still "loose" from my skull. It's been...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Hahah Jaime at your buy low comment! I'm sure you were just as gorgeous before as you are now. I do hope your open bite gets sorted out soon! And Snap, you are a very handsome man yourself! I don't know what your wife looks like but I'm sure you're a very photogenic couple. I've forgotten how much I...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Thanks Snap. My ortho thinks that permanent retainers will do the job to keep the tooth in place. I am trusting her on this but am quite worried still. We'll see how it goes!

Re: Poll: At What Age Did You Get Your Braces?

I got my braces at 16, under the belief that my treatment (including surgery to fix an underbite) would take 18 months to 2 years. I'm now 21, and almost 5 1/2 years later I'm getting them off in a month! Woo!

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Hi folks! Gosh it's been a while since I've been on here! This place was my absolute lifeline in June. I have had a quick skim back and can report that I have also noticed a lot more food stuck in my braces than before! It's very strange. I have a little chunk of gum missing behind my front teeth at...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Not been around for weeks due to starting a job in London...it's been manic! Had ortho yesterday who told me that everything is looking great and my braces should be off on the visit after next! WOoooOOOoooOOOOoooo! It's only been five bluddy years! Weight wise, I was at my all-time high at 187lbs w...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

I was supposed to get my surgical hooks hooks/wires changed today but my usual ortho wasn't in clinic today so I saw the head registrar. He just put powerchains on and left the surgical hooks :( :(

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Gruntled - I'm also NHS (i might be wrong in thinking you are too) and was given little or no support for my SARPE surgery. Im not blaming them, they are short of money! This forum was a lifeline for me when I felt isolated and knew nobody else who'd been through the procedure. I'll be re reading a...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Jaime, it's just the edges of my top gums that are a bit numb now. I was really lucky that my feeling returned almost immediately anyway. I must've had a great surgeon! A soppy moment - I'm genuinely so glad to have found this forum. It's so nice to talk to people who understand exactly what's happe...
