third adjustment

I had my third adjustment yesterday. The ortho left the spring on the bottom to continue making space for a tooth to be rotated. But I was excited when he said he would put the steel wire on my uppers with the power chain and told me that this was doing the final work to close the space from two ext...

I got a spring at my last adjustment at the beginning of the month. I didn't get it first but now I do - it is pulling one tooth over to provide it with some space so that it can be rotated into line. I've had no pain with this spring - it is a the front of my bottoms and I have noticed that it is s...

My ortho has told me that I won't have a perfect bite without surgery. I told him I was fine with that and he said that he only recommended it as an option and that very few people actually took the option when the overjet issue that would remain would be as minimal as mine. He has a slight overjet ...

Rice has got to be the worst - having had two extractions, the little rice grains love lodging there and in the brace at the back of my mouth. I actually love eating pizze because it is soft - I won't touch the crust. Anything I've to bite with my front teeth is a huge no-no - a knife and fork is my...

about $5,000 for the braces which include about $400 for the consult before I had the braces put on. The extractions were an additional $500. For the braces, I am paying it all out of pocket - a percentag down and a monthly charge to a bank account. For the extraction, the ortho got them part covere...

On my first adjustment I got a new wire - a heavier wire on my top teeth. At my second adjustment I got a lecture in flossing, a screw on my bottom wire to straighten a crooked tooth and some sort of little wires on two of the brackets on my top teeth. I guess each adjustment will address a differen...

I just got a spring on today - it was my second adjustment. So can someone clarify what this spring does? My bottom teeth look like Aznfayeth's - but what happened between 11/1 where there seems to be no gap between the teeth and 11/4 where there is a gap? My ortho is pretty pleased with my movement...

This may sound weird but my teeth are more likelymto bleed depending on the time of the month it is.
In the week before that time, my teeth bleed easily when brushed - of course it could be because I'm premenstrual and am brushing harder - who knows????

I've been told on more than one occasion that I look like a 14 year old with my braces - I didn't find it freaky or offensive. The people who told me are friends - I guess if it had been a stranger I would have been freaked out - but any stranger commenting on my appearance would freak me out!!!!

I second the suggestions for a stick blender - they are great - easier to clean and you can use them for smoothies and soups - they are so great with soups - you can blend straight in the saucepan. I use sorbet instead of ice or icecream in my smoothied. My favorite is: 1 banana handful of strawbs s...

I got a heavier wire at my first adjustment - the discomfort was minimal. I have experienced little or no pain to date - 2 months! and am happy about that. It really seems that each person is different as to how much their teeth complain about moving. Mine seem to have already packed their bags and ...

Onions are really bad to eat - I find they get stuck in the wire thing that is across the roof of my mouth. I carry plastic utensils with me and have no problem cutting a sandwich into bits - it makes it last longer too!!! Mashed potatoes are good Soup is great Chilli is good too As a veggie I eat a...

I'm sure Evelyn didn't use the term to offend...nobody on this board is mean or offensive in anyway which is so nice But it did spark off an uncomfortable twinge when I saw a term that is generally used in a derogatory sense to discuss inferior teeth! I feel this is a safe place to discuss orthodont...
