Newbie needing advice

So many people have commented, I think you've gotten a wealth of support already. But I wanted to add my two cents, because I think the whole issue--or all the issues--you raise are important. Firstly, you are not a minor, but if you were--because you are supporting yourself--you would be an emancip...

Early removal....yippee!

Almost exactly a year ago, I began the process of fixing my cosmetically distressed teeth and fixing my bite. Without surgery, the bite would never be perfect, and all the research I did indicated that for anyone of my age , which was 58 at the time, it was risky. The risk was a high likelihood of p...

Whistling S

Thank you, thank you, thank you. The "s" thing has bothered me since I got braces last October. Before that, I never had any odd sounds on any letters or words. I figured it was the braces and hoped that when they are removed, it would go away. My husband remarked early on that my voice ha...

Self-conscious...

I am 58, and decided to get my teeth straightened after the man I was dating took a photo to show his grown daughters...and my teeth had just shifted so much and looked so awful. When I told him...actually, it was already clear to us that we would be together totally and soon, so I asked his opinion...

Substituting archwires?

I haven't posted in quite a while. Things are going pretty well, except for the few days of discomfort after an adjustment. However, I have a question; unfortunately, I'm not sure of the terminology and am hoping someone can interpret for me. The adjustment before yesterday, they banded my back mola...

Wow!

Hello! Please give my love to Johnson City, TN  ! I lived in Bristol TN/VA for about ten years--left eight years ago--and still miss it. Actually, I'm visiting my horse, retired to a friend's farm in Abingdon, next month. But gosh, I love east Tennessee. Now then, onward to teeth! The only th...

I've posted this elsewhere, but it might give someone else a jolt to do or not do the braces thing... I never had really great teeth, but they were not bad, either. Throughout my youth and well into adulthood, they were in what one might call the 'normal' range. No one ever mentioned my teeth one wa...

Got you all beat! I got Damon 3s at age 58. That was about 5 months into a wonderful relationship; last month (6.5 months into it), we got married! Fortunately, I look younger anyway....like about 50, or so my sweet stepdaughter tells me. Or maybe 15! LOL.

Best to all,

Laura

Damon 3s good news and bad news

Glad to hear from Jennielee81 that Damons stick out from the tooth farther. I have been convinced of that, but had never had anyone confirm it. They are a bit less noticeable, although as far as I'm concerned, anything stuck to one's teeth is bound to be noticed. I wonder, though, if food gets trapp...

Worst foods for braces

A nice salad of baby greens is exciting. The little spinach stems get caught under the rear wires and sometimes one can have the exciting effect of a tiny whole lettuce leaf hanging into the throat and unable to move down or up because its stem is caught. But I'll have to try the taco salad. Sounds ...

Thanks

Thanks for the replies and advice. I haven't gotten any actual sores, just a sort of scratchy feeling. I use Tom's All Natural Toothpaste, so I think it doesn't probably have that problem ingredient, but will check. I think taking the vitamins is a great idea; the B vitamins, especially, might be go...

Is everything supposed to change all the time?

It has been about five weeks since I got top and bottom braces. Damons, nothing odd, just those nasty cleats on inside bottom molar bands and hooks on molars top and bottom; no elastics yet. But here's the thing. It seems as if a different bracket is poking me every few days. For the past three week...

Yes and no

My teeth were not awfully bad looking before braces: they had really shifted over the past ten years, though, and my slight overjet had gotten very rabbitty looking. Wanted to get model-perfect smile before I get too old! And also, bite stunk and I want to keep my teeth to age 100 at least. And the ...

Thanks!

I've been in pretty good shape, after that first night when the brace-related chemicals I had swallowed along with the two Manhattans and glass of wine sent me to the Porcelain Honda just when my boyfriend was basically proposing. However, I am totally miserable today. :FeelSick: The freakin' ...
