Re: 30y old, eastern European girl wanting straight teeth
I'm not a dentist, but you might want to ask about getting those impacted wisdom teeth taken out first before starting braces. As other posters said, they can put bands on the crowns, but with several root canals they may have to take things slower = longer time. Also I would talk with several ortho...

Re: Teeth never feel clean enough
Newbite, the backside test is a good idea. What drives me crazy are the little rough spots of glue around the brackets that never feel like they're clean, even though I've cleaned thoroughly. I can see it is just glue, but it's still strange to get used to.

Re: Separators/spacers
Good information Dr. Tam, makes sense. Could that be spacers between incisors too if doing IPR there?

Re: Eating with a permanent bite plate-advice please
Don't have a bite plate, but got molar buildup bite turbos which is similar. Chose all metal too for the same reason. For the first week my tongue was so torn up I couldn't taste anything, and eating was strange since you can't bite down all the way. After that it returned to normal and could enjoy ...

Re: new decision, 30 years old
Good luck as well with your treatment. I got 3 opinions as well before I started, and went with the one I felt most comfortable with and thought would work best for me. I interviewed them like I was hiring them for a job, well I was right? The ones that acted annoyed didn't get hired. In fact one ne...

Re: possible to break a tongue thrusting habit before braces?
It's hard to break those old habits, especially if you didn't even realize you were doing it. If they caught it in the consultation then I'm sure it will be addressed. Sometimes they can put something on the back of your teeth to train you to break the habit which is apparently effective.

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Hi aml, that's weird, were you able to see the tooth on X-rays years ago or did it just appear? Sometimes they can just put a bracket and elastic to pull it over.

Re: 28 year old female, 2 months into my Damon Braces
Wow that looks like good progress. It's always motivating to see results and that you're making progress. After the first few months the changes appear less dramatic, but still doing alignments that aren't as obvious, so hang in there.

Re: Separators/spacers
I've never had Invisalign, only regular braces, but I didn't think they did spacers for the aligners. I'm sure your ortho has a plan you'll have to ask about! Most of the time spacers are in for more than a day, so that does sound interesting.

Re: Do your second molars touch?
At least you know you are getting close. With as much time and money as you've invested you want to make sure they're touching back there. Good luck with the final part of your treatment.

Re: Adults With metal braces - are you happy with your choice?
I've had clear before, but chose all metal for a new treatment starting a month ago. Besides the staining of the clear, I didn't like how they rubbed and felt against the cheeks compared to metal. Especially the hooks on the ceramic brackets, those things are large and sharp compared to the metal. P...

Re: Just got braces... so disappointed
As some other posters said, you may be more aware now, and the glue does leave a gritty yellow feel around the brackets. I had clear before and noticed the staining, especially with white ligatures or chains, so when I had them put on again several years later I went with all metal. Thought that if ...
