Re: August/September surgery buddies
Zonia, You and I are almost in the exact situation. My next appointment with my surgeon is on October 27th as well, I thought that was really odd because its so far away. I'm also 1 month post op and can open just a little more than 2 fingers. Today, i was allowed to chew soft foods -- only after co...

Re: Lower Jaw Surgery
Hello! I'm 20 and just had lower jaw surgery on August 31st 2015 here in California. I too had a massive overbite and recessed jawline from my side profile. Just like you, others couldn't tell from the front view of my face so I didn't think it was a huge deal. I also tried to avoid surgery after mu...

Re: One Week post-op , lower surgery, teeth not matching
I had lower jaw surgery on the 31st, and recently was unwired. I too worried that my teeth were not matching after I was unwired but I think it just needs time to settle. I expressed this concern to my surgeon and didn't see why I was worrying which helped me to not worry as much. Just give it time,...

Re: August/September surgery buddies
Slewsmissy, I'm glad you're feeling better! You're lucky to have most feeling back in your jaw. Right now, I have most feeling on the right side of my face and barely any on the lower left half and lower lip -- and I'm only 20! Hope it all comes back it feels so weird. Got my jaws unwired on Thursda...

Re: August/September surgery buddies
Here's a weird question.. Has anyone been able to poop? Seriously. I'm going on my 5th day since operation and I haven't had any bowel movements yet.. kinda scary. I'm also down to 98lbs from 106lbs, should I be eating more? I admit I have been majorly slacking because its so hard to eat and takes s...

Re: August/September surgery buddies
Adorkable, I was so out of it that I forgot to mention that I'm most likely going to be wired up until the 10th -- so, thats 2 weeks. My mom and I just finished reading your posts to me through Apple's speech dictation -- pretty hilarious to say the least! lol. Jmp75, I don't have pain when I swallo...

Re: August/September surgery buddies
Hello Adorkable, Thanks for replying, much appreciated. I hope to blow away my surgeon with my future lack of swelling as well. Today, is the end of day 3 -- which has probably been the worst day so far. I never actually lost feeling in my lower jaw, just 90% numbness, im guessing the numbness is st...

Re: August/September surgery buddies
Hi guys! I had my lower jaw surgery yesterday morning at 8am after checking in at 6am. It was pretty horrible, the nurses couldn't kind my veins and keep poking new holes in me. I cried leaving the admitting center all the way to the operation table. I even cried after the mean nurse told me I had t...

Re: August surgery buddies
Kelse - I too have been looking at the June/July thread in hopes of information lol. Im having my a BSSO - lower jaw movement of 6-8mm to fix my overbite and overjet of 6-8mm. It seems to me that a BSSO has a quicker healing time which I'm excited about since i'm dreading walking my college campus l...

Re: 8MM Overjet - Options?
Your consultation was quick because ortho's do this a thousand times a day, and usually their right on the money. I too also have an 8mm overjet / overbite. I'm sorry to say, but you need Jaw surgery to move your lower jaw forward. Removing teeth will not look right in the end, my ortho explained th...
