Peri-implantitis - should I be worried?
Hi, I just wondered if Peri-Implantitis is something important to consider before getting an implant? I have a canine impaction and have worn a Maryland bridge for the last 20 years which came out last year. Now, because apparently bridges are not great in place of a canine for long-term use and to ...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Update time? Asked my orthodontist if it really was impossible to get my canine out, again, he insisted that it is not possible and absolutely refuses to even try getting my canine out. Tbh I saw it coming but kinda wanted to cling to the small possibility of it :( . Anyways, now we're going with t...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Yeah, I can understand that. One thing though, which regular canine would you need pulled also if you go for closing the gap option? The one on the other side or the lower canine and did they tell you that was to balance it out? Eve My top canine is impacted so my dentist said to pull the other top...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Well. After about a year and a half of trying it's over. I have to get it my impacted canine pulled. Now time to decide if I want an implant or not. I'm leaning towards not. I can understand that you are disappointed and don't want an implant (esp cos of the cost) but personally, I sort of li...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Ultimately, I decided the costs (mouth continually ripped to shreds from braces, concerns about bone loss) outweighed the benefits. Eve Thanks, Eve. Yes, I'm happy its over. Sorry if I wasn't clear - I think the procedure was worth the hassle and I'm glad it worked. My teeth aren't 100% perfect and...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
So, I had my ortho consultation yesterday to make a plan for my canine. My ortho reckons that I will need to have the premolar beside the impacted canine pulled to create space. None of that brace moving just extract a healthy tooth urgh! Initially, he was quoting 3 premolar extractions to even ever...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
Well I'm off to the see the ortho today to decide on a treatment plan for my impacted canine. I must admit, I sort of wish I hadn't found this thread as I feel really pesimistic about it all now and wish I had been left in ignorant bliss LOL (grr google) although it may have been a good thing. I'm d...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
After I got the gum around the tooth lasered off, it moved incredibly fast. If that's an option your ortho brings up for you, I strongly recommend it.[/quote] That's great that the gum lasering worked, but does that part of the gum grow back again? Don't you need it to keep the tooth in place? Apolo...

Re: SirWired's Guide to Mouthwashes and Toothpastes
Cosodyl is a CHG-based mouthwash. I would not necessarily recommend it for braces-wearers because of the high potential for staining absent a clear indication for their use, such as periodontitis. (CHG-based rinses are not even available in the US without a prescription.) Oh I didn't realise (I hav...

Now at 40! Only because my bridge cam out and I'm thinking of having the operation to bring the canine that is still lying in the gum.

Re: Terrified about the look of braces.
I honestly think the look of braces is the last thing to worry about. It;s not like it's a new thing, everyone knows what they are and I don't think they make anyone look less attractive at all.

Re: Adults With metal braces - are you happy with your choice?
I suppose it's quite a big decision as you have to live with your choice for a long time. I like to coloured type but probably would go for the most subtle.
