Re: Just got clear braces on top. Should I do metal or clear on bottom?
I have ceramic on top and metal on bottom, but not by choice: the ceramic brackets were too wide for my narrower lower teeth, and wouldn't fit. Otherwise I'd have done ceramic on both. They were bulky at first but now I don't notice them at all. I do think they're less noticeable due to the color, e...

Re: Am I being too much of a perfectionist?
I think they look great but I do notice the left and right laterals look different. Maybe it's just the angle though. But it looks like your right-side lateral is up higher than on the left side, and they look like they are shaped slightly differently (maybe because of the angle and the fact that on...

Re: Can't make a decision on braces anymore
I would echo what I think someone else touched on and recommend you get a 2nd and maybe even 3rd opinion. This will give you peace of mind that the extractions are really necessary. From reading this board I've learned that sometimes it's necessary, but that there seem to be orthos on different ends...

Re: Did you choose metal braces, or an alternative and why?
I've got ceramic on most upper teeth and metal on lowers. I would've gotten ceramic all over but my bottom teeth are too narrow to fit the slightly wider ceramic brackets. My two upper laterals, which are just fake teeth attached to the archwire, also have metal, because the ceramic brackets wouldn'...

Re: Do ceramic braces/ligatures stain?
I've had mine for two years and the brackets themselves haven't stained. They're still whiter than my teeth which are not particularly yellow or anything either. Ligatures, powerchains etc all stain. For that reason I don't go with the clear ones despite them being initially less noticeable. They ar...

Intentional teeth flaring to provide lip support?
Has anyone had any experience with this? I was supposed to get my braces off last week but told my ortho I was unhappy with the amount of flaring of my upper front teeth. This has been a constant disagreement between my ortho and I all along as you can see in one of my older posts. The problem is I ...

Re: Pre-Braces Shopping List
I recommend multiple travel toothbrushes - one to keep at work, one to keep in your purse or car, etc. At work I have a little black pouch with toothbrush, paste, ortho bands, and some little floss picks (little proxa-brushes or whatever they're called). For travel toothbrushes, they make kinds that...

Re: Getting implants and curious about everyone else's experience!
Just wanted to update to say the implant surgery was easier than I could have imagined. In fact, the surgery itself was easier than a filling. And recovery was as easy, too. Once they put the iv in my arm (which hurt less than a numbing injection, getting your blood drawn, etc), I counted to 10 and ...

Thanks for replying PinkPeep!
I go in next Friday December 4th 2015. After I got a scan done, the doctor determined he can do synthetic bone grafting and doesn't need to take any from my jaw. So that's a plus but I am still a little nervous.

Re: anyone used an acceledent?
I have one, and I used it heavily during my first year of treatment. I am now a year and 6 months in and almost done. The past 6 months I guess I got out of the habit of using it. During the first year however, I had some really rotated canines, and they were taking their time straightening out. My ...

Thanks for sharing your experience! Out of curiosity, did your brother have the same tooth missing as you?

Re: Flossing HELP!
I also second the Waterpik. Not a replacement for real flossing (I think it claims to be but my hygienist tells me it's definitely not) but it's still a big help. You'd be amazed at the food particles it gets out vs. just brushing. I should floss more but it's too time consuming with this metal - I ...

I was 27 when I got them and will be either 28 or 29 when I get them off.

Getting implants and curious about everyone else's experience!
I need to get 4 implants for teeth congenitally missing - 2 lateral incisors (next to my front teeth) which plain aren't there, and then 2 to replace second premolar/bicuspids which are baby teeth and not holding up so well. I had my initial consultation with the oral surgeon a few months before I g...

Re: Issues with ortho - they're ready to remove braces but I'm not happy
Edit: I read that I can't add the pictures inline until I have >7 posts. So sorry to have to post a link to an album. Anyway, in that album, the first 3 with top-braces only are the "befores", the rest are the "afters" aka the current. It only displays thumbnails; you have to cli...
