Re: How much do look change after 1month
My face didn't really settle for a few months, like you I was initially disappointed thinking did I go through all that for nothing but I'm well chuffed now.

Re: Positive Jaw Surgery Results?
I had a forward sliding sagittal split osteotomy (lower jaw cut and extended) naturally it was painful for a while but it settled down and eating became easier. I'm far happier with my appearance now as I was always very self concious.

Same here, I was told to brush as best I could and use Corsodyl mouthwash.

Re: 1 month to debrace.
Sorry I don't know what the Kor system is or indeed most of the terms used on here! In England we just get told we're getting braces! Still, at least I don't pay for them.

Re: How long did you need wax?
I have had to use wax/silicon for 3 years, I tried going without but the pain was too great and my mouth never built up a resistance to the brackets.

Re: Lower Jaw Surgery
Having my impacted wisdom teeth extracted prior to my braces being fitted was far more painful than the jaw surgery. I was offered Morphine post op but I didn't need it.

Re: Poll: At What Age Did You Get Your Braces?
I was 38 having turned down the opportunity 20 years earlier, I'm glad I did as I'm sure technology has moved on since then but it's been no fun turning 40 with braces on!

Re: Lower Jaw Surgery
Hi, I'm 41 and had the surgery in December last year. Has it been worth it? Hell yes! Like you I had a recessed lower jaw but as was always away of it as it caused me pain which became worse hence me opting for surgery. Your ortho is correct advising you it can cause problems, mine shifted back to a...

Re: Surgeons in the UK?
I had my jaw surgery done by Mr SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM at the James Cook University hospital in Middlesbrough and I can't praise him enough. A lot of the orthodontic team are serving military personnel and they are used to rebuilding shattered faces so jaw surgery is mundane to them! The hospital ...

Re: One Week post-op , lower surgery, teeth not matching
After my surgery my molars met on one side and not on the other, I was quite concerned but now, 10 months down the line, the bite has sorted itself out.

Re: Lower jaw plate removal due to infection
I had similar to you, my lower right plate was infected and had to be removed. I'm sorry to say you're going to need a lot more than a day off work, mine swelled more than after the original operation and I still have recurring pain now 8 months down the line. I don't know what your job is but I'm a...

1 month to debrace.
I'm getting debraced on November the 3rd after what will be 3 years and one month! I had Orthognathic surgery last December and I can't wait to see the final results. One problem though is that despite brushing religiously my teeth are quite badly discoloured, what have people found best for getting...

I had a similar thing when I had mine fitted, I had to tell people! I get them off on November 3rd so will see if people comment.
