Re: tips on how to smile and not look like a wierdo???

I've got to agree with the group here: I big smile is the best you can do. If you try to cover them up, people will notice something weird and look more closely. The best disguise really is to hide in plain sight! The added bonus of this, is the people that take notice may also take notice of the pr...

Saying there was nothing wrong with our teeth isn’t helpful and makes us feel defensive.
I still think this is the most difficult one. I'd have said it was passing on curry, but I refuse to give up curry, so that one is a non-issue.

Re: Bring it on!

Well, it's been 5 weeks now. I think I've gotten used to having food stuck in my teeth, having people trying to be subtle when staring at me, flossing (it takes forever still), and spending lots of time in the mirror wiling my teeth to move faster. It's hard to capture in pictures, but the gap betwe...

Re: How do you find an inexpensive orthodontist?

Unfortunately, shopping around is the best way I know of. I had a handful of different quotes that were quite different from each other. The lowest quote was over $900 less than the highest quote.

Re: I did it!

I never really liked IPR, not because of discomfort, but because I knew I'd never get the enamel back and I worked hard for that enamel damnit  Did you decide to do the first day of the new job with, or without your aligners?

Re: Braces next week - feeling nervous

Honestly, the worst two things about getting braces put on is the taste of the glue, and the dryness in your lips. Other than that, it's quite relaxing. At one point during my initial visit I actually dozed off!

Re: Time to blossom - lilyflower's story

It seems as though you are making fantastic progress. Things are starting to look quite well aligned in the front. Have you reached the point of only checking progress occasionally? I'm just barely past my first week and notice changes every day, but I seem to remember rapid changes happening less a...

Re: Ugh. Going back for more.

Oh! Forgot to add that this will be the round #3 of braces -- High school, adult braces #1, and now adult braces #2. :jokerlaugh: But you know what.... I don't even care!!! I'm just thrilled that I'll finally have the results I wanted all along. :jump: I'm in the exact same boat. I completely agree...

Re: Bring it on!

I don't think my ortho office has ever had someone swallow a spacer. But we've all decided that its better to swallow a spacer than a bracket, wire tie, or surgical hook. Three rounds of spacers is quite impressive. I'd say I have to agree with you on swallowing the spacer over a bracket! I can't s...

Flossing is my life now. This is just what I do
This is so accurate. I, fortunately only have brackets on my bottom teeth. The blessing and curse is I can still quickly floss the top and remind myself of what I'm missing out on with my bottom teeth. :D Welcome to the team!

I suppose I should update this. I've started posting things here:

Long story short: Records went well, spacers were as bad as I remembered, I now have full brackets on bottom with pink ligatures.

I came to add advice, but I'm too late. How's your first full day in braces going?
