Re: Sleep Apnea
I am about 70 days from surgery for sleep apnea. I had my lower premolars extracted and my lower incisors pulled back. The spaces just recently closed. I believe it has made my apnea worse, but I can deal with it. Just remember that this is a short-term loss for huge longterm gains. I am definitely ...

Re: CW Rotation vs. CCW Rotation
Most people in my situation have ccw (recessed mandible, slight excess gummy maxilla, sleep apnea) But my occulsal plane is flat. If I had ccw like most people have for osa I would end up with a reverse-smile. From what I understand, when I have my jaws advanced horizontally, my maxilla will be slig...

Re: What medical problems does your bite typically cause you?
I have a small mandible, recessed chin, and recessed maxilla. I had lower bicuspids extracted to upright my proclined front teeth and give me a substantial overbite. I'd definitely say the worst aspect of my bite is restricted breathing. I have OSA and forward head posture. The forward head posture ...

Re: Surgery for sleep apnea
One more thing! People with retruded mandibles and recesses chins: do you feel like your anatomy has affected your voice, giving you a pinched sounding voice? I do. Did you notice an improvement of the resonance of your voice post surgery? It only seems logical, but I haven't found any info about th...

Re: Surgery for sleep apnea
thanks for the feedback. Is it true that when you have your maxilla advanced it isn't as apparent as most people think? It seems like I will end up looking like a Who in Jim Carey's The Grinch, but that isn't necessarily the case? I have read articles and have seen pictures that lead me to believe y...

Re: Surgery for sleep apnea
My bottom bicuspids were extracted to upright the teeth on my bottom jaw. They were proclined and met edge to edge with my top incisors. This brings my bottom teeth more in line with my recessed chin, and gives me a considerable overbite. When the holes are closed i will have that much extra room to...

Surgery for sleep apnea
Hi Everyone, I'm scheduled to have orthognathic surgery for sleep apnea when the spaces close where my bottom bicuspids were pulled. I am very nervous and very excited. Has anyone had turbinectomy in conjunction with bimax advancement. I am almost more concerned with the possible complications resul...
