Here’s an update on my condition: I thought everything was fine and the infection was gone…well it’s not. On Wednesday evening of this week, I started developing a stomachache, then diarrhea, and then the worst case of the chills I’ve ever had. I took the next day off work and slept most of ...

Thanks for all your replies. I did not go to the OS and the swelling seems to be going down as of now. So hopefully I don't have an infection still. I don’t have any pain either. I seem to swell up some days and not others. That could be from chewing. Ibuprofen helps a lot. The stuffiness is still...

Yeah, I know. I was going to give it a day or two and see if it gets worse before I call. The nasal stuffiness every night is concerning. I wonder if it’s a sinus infection and I need ‘more’ antibiotics. The last ones were very strong to the point of diarrhea for a week….Yikes ! I don’t wa...

Concerned about infection

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am 7 weeks from upper and lower surgery (Aug 3rd). A couple weeks ago I discovered that my right side was swelling a bit more than the left. Plus I woke up and my right ear seemed clogged, kind of foggy. So, I called the OS and he prescribed some heavy-duty...

I had a upper jaw impaction and expansion (2 piece Lefort) and a lower jaw advancement (13mm). Not sure if those are the right terms. I had a Class II overbite with a recessed chin and gummy smile. I am 49 years old. Along with the thinning of the upper lip, my jowls seem to be bigger also. Which no...

Thinner upper lip

I am 4 weeks now from upper and lower surgery. My upper lip is considerably more thin than it use to be. I know, I still have some swelling, but was wondering if anyone knows if it will eventually go back to the normal way it was before the surgery. Or am I going to have to live with a thinner upper...

Dottie, I too have wondered about getting ALL this done. I've only been braced for 1 1/2 months, and I will probably be in them for almost three years. I'm having orthognathic surgery (both upper and lower jaw) in March 2007. I am 47, single and I know exactly what you mean by being self conscience....

I bought a water pic as soon as my braces were placed on. I LOVE IT ! I use my Oral B Sonic Complete first, then the water pic. It's a great combination. The first time I used it I did get water all over the place. You learn real fast that you need to keep your lips closed slightly and let the water...

Thanks Jennielee,

OOOHHH That's how you do it. Cropping them...didn't even think of that. The camera is new to me, so this is all different.

I'll try it tonight.

Carly's Braces

I'm 47 and I finally got braces after ALL these years. I tried about 10 years ago and they (insurance co) wouldn't approve it, so I decided I could live with it (my smile). I've always hated my smile...since I can remember. I have a Class II overbite, with a recessed lower jaw. My teeth are pretty s...

Hey thanks for your comments. I tried taking pictures, but they just come out blurry. Maybe I don't have a good enough camera. It's a digital. I can't use the flash because it's way too bright and if I get to close it's blurry. Farther away you can't see enough. What type do you use? My upper arch i...

When does movement start???

I've had by braces for 2 weeks and 2 days. I was wondering when do you start seeing movement? I keep checking and nothing so far. :Questions:

Just curious !
