Hello. I got braces about 15 months ago and I was promised straight teeth. I was given six month smiles for the first 13 months. I got six month smiles and was told it could take 10 months. They came off after about 13. Now onto clear aligners... If I could have braved it I probably would have gone with traditional braces.

Chocolate with hazelnuts through it... Also crunchy vegetables!

It will feel so odd at the start! I am an adult with with braces and most people don't comment - those who do are interested in themselves getting braces! I find dental wax, Vaseline and even painkillers can be so helpful especially in the first days after an adjustment. Good luck!

Definitely the elastics… wearing them during the day meant I couldn't open my mouth properly to talk so people found it difficult to understand me and they made me spit sometimes however I wouldn't change wearing them if that's what was needed

Definitely smile like you're not wearing braces. I tried to smile and hide them and in photos I look slightly crazy.

I didn't brush my teeth any different way with braces on - the bracket probably would have come loose when eating anyway... That happened to mine when eating something very soft... Just bad luck I reckon. Check with your ortho to see how soon they can attach it again for you and try not to worry :)
