Re: Braces, round two
It's been a while since I've updated, life got in the way! I'm now on countdown till debrace day, T-minus 24 days! My teeth are looking great and I'm really pleased. My midline is spot on and in the next 3 weeks we're tipping one side of my upper arch out as they sunk back a bit when closing my extr...

Re: I want them off!!
Thank you all for the messages - I really appreciated them even if I didn't reply. I am still struggling with feeling self-conscious about them. I avoid seeing friends much more now. I hope I'll feel better in 3-4 months once I'm over the halfway mark. At the moment I keep thinking I want to ask fo...

Re: Braces, round two
No new pictures currently, must remember to take some.. Things are still moving quickly and I'm on target to be out of braces in July/August time, which will be 18 months altogether. My extraction gap is about 1mm off being totally closed. Had an ortho appointment this week and he's put a powerchain...

Re: Is there ANY non-cosmetic reason to fix an overjet of upper teeth?
I wanted to fix my overjet so I could bite into food properly, which I couldn't previously.

Re: how much are metal braces cost for adults
I'm in the UK (East Midlands) and mine were £3300 also. Full metal braces for 18 months (ish, hopefully!) and retainers afterwards.

Re: Braces, round two
Hi all! Long time since I did an update, I didn’t think much was happening to tell, until I took some photos last night! My gap is closing up slowly, I’ve got a single powerchain tie across the gap and I’m wearing class 2 elastics at night only at the moment. The plan is to get my canine in the gap ...

Re: Braces, round two
Hiya! It's all going OK, thigns have come to a halt though. Since I had the extraction gap re-wired, nothing much has happened. I had a lot of inital pressure for 3 days and a small gap (0.5mm maybe) appeared between my incisor and canine and one between my back two molars but then the pressure went...

Re: Braces, round two
Well, here is my gap in all it's glory: http://i.imgur.com/MmYrnDY.jpg?1 I went to the ortho yesterday and had the wire reattached. He also put a clear elastic looking band from my molar to canine. He said he's going to move the canine first so the molar doesn't come too far forward. So I'll have a ...

Re: Braces, round two
Pat, your teeth look fantastic! You must be so pleased with the progress :D I can definitely see the similarities between our pre brace teeth! I had my extraction on Friday, so no going back now! I get my wire reattached across the gap on Wednesday, which I'm looking forward to (to get the gap close...

Re: Braces, round two
Have you got any pics Pat? I'd love to see your progress :) Go with Udon noodles, the thicker ones are always a bit easier! :D I had elastics to bring my teeth together in a box formation on my left side and they weren't too bad actually! I only had to wear them at night though. I hope your elastic ...

Re: Braces, round two
I'm headed away to Australia for a month in December and am nervous about doing so Pat! My extraction is booked for next week and I'm dreading all my holiday photos showing my braces and big gappy smile! I've successfully managed to not really be photgraphed for the last 9 months with braces luckily...

Re: Braces, round two
Hi pat, how are you getting on? My progress has slowed down somewhat too. I've decided to have my last right upper pre-molar out, so will be premolar-less on one side! I've thought long and hard about it and it seems like the best way to go for me personally. The reasons I wanted braces were to get ...

Re: Braces, round two
Adjustment day this morning. I'll take some photos this week and post to show my progress! We were supposed to be discussing having my pre molar extracted today but he's decided to have a go with elastics before taking the tooth out so we will discuss extraction at my next appointment in 6 weeks. I'...

Re: Braces, round two
Did they place the top and bottom brackets on the same day? My first orthodontist did them in two different appointments (which was a pain). I just wanted to know if it's a common thing to get both placed in one appointment now. I had both my top and bottom braces placed on the same day. From what ...

Re: To extract or not to extract, that is the question...
Thanks for the input guys. I'm still leaning towards extracting the tooth. I spoke to my ortho in-depth and he assured me that if the tooth was removed that it wouldn't affect my bite. Having my canine next to my molar doesn't bother me massively as when I smile, you can't see past my canine anyway....
