Root pain & canine rotation?
Still being quite new to the braces lifestyle, I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this. I'm two weeks out of an adjustment where my first square archwire was placed. My top left canine (among others) needs to be rotated a bit. Today I've started to experience weird sensitivity and sharp pain...

Re: Why haven't all my teeth been braced!?
I would not be necessarily worried - but I would ask. I am going on my 10th week of treatment. My upper molars are still not bracketed/wired in at this point. They may be at my next adjustment. I may need to have my bottom molars disengaged from my wires tomorrow too, as the thin wire has been prone...

Re: Did you choose metal braces, or an alternative and why?
If you're in braces is the first place, you likely are concerned about facial aesthetics, at least to some extent. I have clear uppers at the moment and metal lowers. I will be requesting clear lowers on the bottom at my next adjustment as well. Soley for cosmetic reasons. I speak in public often, m...

Requesting a bracket change?
Hi everyone. I'm currently about eight months into treatment. I have ceramic braces on uppers, metal on bottom. I was under the impression that ceramic on bottom initially wasn't advisable due to durability and potential damage if upper teeth were to make contact. However, my husband got his placed ...

Wax or no wax?
I'm approaching my 5th week of treatment. Last week I had a somewhat impromptu adjustment and moved to a stronger wire. I've also been trying to become less dependent on wax for sore spots, in hopes of my mouth toughening up a bit. It works - and then it doesn't. I'll have a few pain-free days where...

Re: Extractions
I'm curious of other's experience with extractions as well. I'll be having an retained upper canine removed Wednesday. The permanent tooth, luckily, isn't impacted but will need to be moved into my arch. My husband will also be having all four first premolars extracted at that time as a well. I know...

Bracketing/engaging a deciduous premolar
Hi everyone. I'm two weeks into treatment today, six weeks from an adjustment. (Husband is getting his today braces today too!) I did a quick search and didn't find any info specific to engaging a deciduous premolar tooth. My treatment plan involves extracting a retained canine. The permanent is the...

Re: overwhelmed at the start of the braces journey?
I'm a week and one day into treatment here. I'm slowly getting over the "oh no, what have I done" phase. My main complaint is not being able to eat much thanks to molar build-ups. I'm an avid cook and likewise, I enjoy eating. I just tell myself it's a great way to kick off a New Year's di...
