Does anyone have a flossable permanent retainer?
So I've seen this type of retainer online and was wondering if any of you guys ever heard of it. Or have it better yet. :) I don't think too many orthos are doing this, but if it works like a regular permanent retainer (and I'm not sure if does!) I don't see why it shouldn't be adopted as the standa...

Re: From Class II to Class I?
Perhaps these class configurations refer to the alignment of the upper/lower premolars to each other, and have nothing to do with the other teeth even if they're sticking out? (like my four front teeth are) 'Cause my ortho's plan is to pull back the premolars, and then when the gap between molar and...

Re: Metallic Chronicles of Mona Lisa! :D
I haven't updated in ages! I got the braces and got busy with life (graduated high school and started college!). It's now been exactly eight months since I first got those braces on my teeth! Wow, eight months. It feels like I got them a month or two ago. Last adjustment, my orthodontist g...

From Class II to Class I?
At my adjustment today the ortho took a look at the right side of my teeth and said "Class I" (thumbs up!) He then looked at the left side and said "Class 1!" And again the thumbs up. I started out with Class II, 11mm overjet. But my teeth haven't improved that much. He pulled ou...

Re: Metallic Chronicles of Mona Lisa! :D
How's your first day going kip? :) So I got the braces today! With one small mishap! While the orthodontist was in the critical stage of gluing on the brackets, I began to cough! And cough! And cough! And it wouldn't stop! But he couldn't stop either, because they already put glue on all the teeth. ...

Re: Braces, round two
Hey kip. Wow, your story is pretty similar to mine! I also have a pretty bad overjet (12mm) and my orthodontist told me that it wouldn't be completely corrected by the end of treatment, even though I did get two upper premolars extracted! Oh yeah! And my orthodontist said he COULD correct my overjet...

Metallic Chronicles of Mona Lisa! :D
Mona Lisa is getting braces, as apparent by this forum's banner! (Fun fact: braces didn't exist when Da Vinci painted our dear Mona Lisa, so she must have had crooked teeth! ) I have delayed braces for a few years due to financial and other reasons. I visited three orthodontists and liked the...

Re: Orthodontist refusing to use any orthodontic appliances!
I'm not really afraid of it, but it's costly and not completely risk-free. I don't know, just don't want to go down the surgical path!

Re: Has anyone had Slow Palatal Expansion?
Ha ha, well, slow palatal expansion is an extremely gradual process but uses the same equipment as its rapid counterpart. RPE is intense and vicious and hurts and has an allegedly higher relapse rate than slow expansion, but works great for some people. It doesn't usually have issues when used on ki...

Who placed your TAD/miniscrew?
Was it an orthodontist or oral surgeon?

Re: Orthodontist refusing to use any orthodontic appliances!
I also have a 12mm overjet. I wanted palate expansion because I thought it would help, since my ortho said he wouldn't be able to completely correct my overjet.

Oh yes, SARPE was suggested but I refused. I do have quite a narrow palate.
