Slightly discoloured tooth (possibly from my jawsurgery?)
I had my jaw surgery around April 2016. 1 of my front tooth is slightly discoloured from the rest of the teeth, it is a little grey (dead-ish looking). I've consulted my orthodontist and he said it just looks dead but isn't, according to my x-rays. My dentist told me that it isn't dead either, just ...

Re: Upcoming Jaw Surgery in less than 2 weeks
I was banded shut too, but my doctor only allowed me to regularly changed them after the 2nd week. It was a hassle to take them out and put them back on just to eat haha, so clear soups are the best. Excited for you!! Would be cool if you could update on your surgery!

Re: Do I need to have surgery?
Hello, well it is very hard to gauge if you need surgery based on your description. Plus you are still young. I am not very sure about the dental health in the country you live in but you could just consult an orthodontist from a decent dental clinic in your area, im sure it wouldn't cost that much....

Re: Upcoming Jaw Surgery in less than 2 weeks
Hello, it must be really exciting! Haha, I guess a tip would be to prepare the ingredients needed to make your meal. The only thing that kept me sane after surgery was the oreo milkshake I made. If your mouth is wired shut, try to avoid very acidic soups because it is just urgh, I tried drinking tom...

Re: What should I expect at the initial surgical consultation?
Yes the surgeon will confirm it. However, the orthodontist is usually right. For me, the first few appointments involved xrays, photos, teeth moulds. Then my surgeon will explain about the surgery, like what might happen, what will happen kind of stuff. After that, he/she will take measurements of y...

Re: 2 days post op
Hey guys thanks! I just visited my surgeon and he banded me shut. Is it supposed to feel really sore?! I can actually feel my lips my chin etc. I think I lost a bit of feeling in my nose only. But now that I am banded shut I feel even more miserable. How did you guys battle your bloodied phlegm? Bec...

Hey! I kinda understand how you feel, except I am 19 y/o this year :) When I was 12+/-, my dentist told me that I had to close my mouth because my lower jaw was slightly overdeveloped. He said I would have to have surgery which freaked me out. Fast forward 6 years and I am wanting this surgery so ba...

Re: How long did everyone have braces before surgery
I will only have mine on for 2 months. Having surgery soon. However, they did not tighten the braces, they just put it on so that they can take readings and stuff. I am doing the surgery first alternative.

Re: Got braces today, Going nuts.
Hello
I got molar buildups too because my bottom teeth hits the upper bracket. I took around a week or two to get used to it. Yeah, it was a total pain in the arse, I didn't even want to eat anything that requires me to chew.
So it has been like 2~3 weeks, I just eat anything HAHA.

Re: Did you choose metal braces, or an alternative and why?
Hello, I got metallic self ligating braces. I got those because they were cheaper than the ceramic ones, I also heard that the ceramic ones stained more easily. I couldn't get invisalign because the braces are to prep for my surgery. But anyway, I feel like braces these days are not much of a proble...
