Re: January - March 2017 Surgery Buddies

My surgery is tomorrow!!! (Jan 11th) can't sleep as too nervous/excited lol. Good luck! I just woke up from my post-surgery nap. Took some hycet right before I went to sleep, not sure how much effect it still is having on me 5 hours later, but I feel surprisingly alright so far. The most surprising...

Re: January - March 2017 Surgery Buddies

I go in for lower jaw surgery tomorrow, Jan 10th! I'm a little nervous about the liquid diet thing, I haven't really prepared for that at all besides the first few days with broth and ensure... Wish I still lived near my parents.. I'm 32 and I need my mom

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies

I have a lower jaw surgery to correct an overbite scheduled for 12/1. This is my first surgery ever. Some of the realities of that sunk in while I was writing this post, and now I'm a little terrified. :(

Re: Six weeks into Damon braces

Well, I've been a good boy about my elastics, and today the orthodontist reduced me to nighttime wear only! Feels like I'm cheating by not having them on at all times anymore, I'm loving it. Also got my expander spring removed and get to engage my lateral incisor now to bring it forward. Today is a ...

Re: Impossible to floss.

In addition to the waterpik, I picked up Oral-B Superfloss, as well as Plackers for Braces (Orange kind). Between those three I think I can do a reasonable job cleaning between the brackets and under the wires...

Re: braces in 2 weeks - nervous!

If you didn't need any pain meds after getting a molar extracted, you probably won't have a tough time with braces. I'm sure you already know, but getting the braces put on doesn't hurt at all. Some people recommend ibuprofen beforehand, but I found that I didn't need it. The first week after you ge...

Re: Braces and depression

31 here. I've battled with depression for a long time, but I more got the braces to address my dentist's concerns about my bite. I haven't felt any change in my day to day life due to them, internally or socially. While this might have been different 10 years ago, I'm perfectly comfortable with them...

Re: How much did you guys pay for your braces?

Something around $8500 for clear upper/metal lower damon braces. My orthodontist is in downtown San Francisco though so I'm also paying for his out of this world rent.

Re: Six weeks into Damon braces

Oops, apparently can't edit my posts as a new member either, but forgot to mention that I got my bottom wire changed to a thicker one at the adjustment today, and will probably get it changed again at my next adjustment in 4 weeks. Hopefully that means good things!

Six weeks into Damon braces

New to braces and to this forum, hi all. Thanks for all the insight you've provided so far in my lurking. A little background info on me: I'm 31 and got damon braces six weeks ago. Never had orthodontic work done, or even recommended until somewhat recently. I had the same dentist for about 15 years...
