I don't think it's drysocket as my tooth does not actually hurt - it seems to be healing fine but my jaw is swollen.

That's precisely my idea as well. I'd rather be a bit more uncomfortable have it finished quickly. I am booked in to have my Ceramic braces put on the 4th March at 11am. Silly question but should I eat lunch before going to the Orthodontist? Also, would Sat/sun off work be long enough to 'recover'? I am an executive assistant so have to talk at work! Would taking Monday off help, or is it a waste?
