Food STILL getting stuck in extraction spots?!

I had all four of my wisdom teeth surgically removed back in the beginning of November 2005. They healed very quickly and incredibly well.. But ever since being braced, I constantly feel like food is getting trapped back there! I have more of a problem with food stuck back there than with the food s...

Loose teeth ever make you nervous?

My two front teeth are really loose right now. So loose that when I smile, or put any pressure on those teeth whatsoever, they're constantly popping. I know this is somewhat normal, but I'm a little nervous.. I'm also concerned that the gums behind my two front teeth are receding. However, I've hear...

Upper teeth receding..?

My bite is very uncomfortable right now - My lower teeth actually hit the roof of my mouth, and since the teeth are moving, the top of my mouth is very sensitive. I was feeling around up there this morning, and noticed that my gumline behind my two upper front teeth goes back quite a bit.. I'm not s...

I feel like that quite often.. even though I've only had them 3 out of 30 months - which I guess, as I'm trying to stay positive, means i'm 1/10 of the way done with my treatment! Hehehe!

Overbite reduced just with alignment?

I'm still trying to get used to all of the terms - I think what I'm talking about is my overbite (protrusion of upper teeth). Anyway, I've noticed that my bite feels quite a bit different in the front. They are still really out there (I never asked how many mm's so I can't say for sure), but they se...

I've lost about 10 lbs since being braced in January.. I've noticed that although I can eat the same foods as before and feel just as full, I'm not eating as much. I think I'm just eat so incredibly slow and carefully that my body has more time to recognize being full.. does that make sense? For ins...

The elastic isn't bad at all like I anticipated. When I was sitting in the chair, he told the assistant to "put her in turtles.." blah blah technical term blah blah.. but all I heard was an animal name and I knew instantly what was coming! I had a really bad headache yesterday that I thoug...

So I went for my third adjustment today, thinking I was just getting a regular ol' checkup with a lig change. I got new wires last time.. so that's all I was scheduled for. However, when I went in, he started making all these changes! I got a new, thicker wire on the bottom - He put in a reverse cur...

I actually like the way my face has changed, and in only over two months! My face has thinned out quite a bit, but it's definitely for the better. My mom said I don't look as "baby-ish" anymore.. my cheekbones and jawline are more defined now, which is good for me.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.. It was such a good experience for me - I felt negative both for my braces and the end of my long-term relationship, and this guy kinda reinforced the fact that both were going to be okay! It helped that he was cute, too.. He was looking at my smile and I was loo...

For those with no dating hopes..

I know that a lot of us out there worry about how braces will affect our social lives. Personally, I didn't worry about that until recently - I just ended a three year relationship - It was always one of those, "Well he loves me for me and doesn't care about the braces!".. which was true, ...

Reverse curve archwires

Someone may have already posted something about this, but I was just curious. For those of you who've had reverse curve archwires on the bottom to level out the teeth, approximately how long did it take for the teeth to level? I wasn't expecting to get this wire until later in my treatment, but my o...

2nd adjustment: Making up for lost time!

I had my second adjustment yesterday.. All went well. They gave me all new wires - .18 (i think) on top and a reverse curve on the bottom. However, I felt like they were going to yank my teeth out! I have had no problems whatsoever during the month, and have almost forgotten that i have braces. But ...
