Re: Anyone has experience with Temporary Anchorage Device ( TAD) ?
I just got one put in on my bottom jaw (between tooth 27 and 27) a few weeks ago. In my case, it's to push my second molar into the space of a first molar that I had extracted. I still don't have an attachment on it yet - that is coming when I go to my regular ortho visit on Friday. The whole insert...

Re: Braces at 30 - FINALLY!
Whoa, it's been a long while since my last post! I kept meaning to post an update, but hey, life happens. Still in powerchains on top and bottom - I had them off on the top for a month, and my gap, which had closed up at that point, opened back up real fast. It finally closed up again, as of my appo...

Re: For Newbies: A Translation App For Ortho Visits
LOL this is hilarious!!!! Ortho: "Panoramic x-rays" Translation: "An opportunity for you to bump your head on a machine - because it's still set up for the previous 4' 10" 12 y.o. - and bite a plastic stick while holding onto two handles as if you're playing an arcade game, but a...

Re: TENDER TOOTH
Yup, I have a handful of teeth that tend to be more tender/sensitive than the rest. One of them is a central incisor, and it is a bit tender when they tug on it to take out wires/powerchains. The canine on the tooth get tender as well. I guess it makes sense because the lateral that is in between is...

Re: lipstick with clear braces?
I used to never wear lipstick, but have started as my teeth have straightened out. And yup, in the beginning, I used to get it all over my brackets! I've been using the finger trick as mentioned above, and it works like a charm. Also, some brands stay put better than others. (Another Revlon Colorsta...

8-10 (8 that are super visible, but you can see the other 2 peeking out at the corners). This is the same as before I had braces.

Re: Poll: Braces as an Adult versus Adolescent
I've had this discussion with my boyfriend as well(who also has naturally perfect, straight teeth- grrr). Definitely wish I had done this when I was younger. I don't think the self-esteem and awkwardness thing would have been an issue since almost everyone around me had braces when they were teenage...

Re: Braces at 30 - FINALLY!
Finally getting around to posting an update. It's been 2 weeks since my last adjustment. Same configuration, nothing that interesting happening. Just another wire tie and they told me they made my powerchains tighter to try to move things along a bit. Ortho commented that my teeth looked great, and ...

Re: How often do you smile since you got braces?
I smile soooooo much more now! My teeth were a giant mess before braces and I was embarrassed about my smile, so it's a significant improvement and I am proud to show it off (even with a gap still)

Re: Help! Flossing is a disaster!!
It gets easier! Your teeth are constantly moving and things get easier as they move. I constantly got floss stuck everywhere and it kept snagging on the wire/brackets and that hurt...I even popped off a ligature doing that my first week. It's much easier now though (and much FASTER). A good threader...
