Thanks jennielee81!!! My uppers and lowers are pretty much lined up right now, so I think I might already have that flare you mentioned in my upper teeth. As far as I'm concerned, all I've got left to correct are a few spaces in my lower teeth. I guess another thing that concerns me is that if I lea...

Brackets in the way of overbite correction!

What am I to do when I'm wearing elastics to correct my overbite, but if successful, it will cause my front teeth to hit my lower brackets and not allow me to close my mouth all the way to allow me to chew food? That's a big concern I have now because I already have my two upper eye teeth hitting th...

Yep, some doctors are just not very sensitive, are they? You're justified in being a little worried. If my ortho were that vocal about how unsure he is about how he's doing his own job, I'd be looking for another ortho!

My elastics go from the upper eye tooth down to the lower first molar. I'm not sure if canine is the same as eye tooth or not. That bite plate idea may be helpful. It doesn't sound like much fun, but it might be what I'll need to correct the problem before it gets worse. My next appointment is 2 mon...

When teeth hit brackets--in front!

I've been using the elastics to correct my frontal overbite for a couple months now and it has progressed quickly. But maybe a little too quickly perhaps. My top eye teeth have come in to the point that they are hitting the brackets of my lower teeth, and my lip gets caught between them all the time...

I was told in the beginning that I'd be in braces 2-2.5 years. After my last adjustment, my ortho said it looked like I might be done in 6 to 9 months from now, which would bring my total to 1 year and 3 months. Time will tell if that really ends up being the case.

You got a point there! I'll give it a chance. Like they say, "Never judge a TV show by its previews".

I can just imagine some people at work making connections between the show character and us. "Hey, ugly Evelyn" "Ugly Karen", etc. That would be enough to not only make me not watch the show, but to urge the network to cancel it! They wouldn't come up with such a connection with ...

Ugly Betty

Anyone else seen the ABC ad for a new show coming up in the fall TV lineup called "Ugly Betty" about an otherwise attractive woman who is apparently supposed to be ugly because she has braces?

Anyone else not too thrilled about being stereotyped?

Don't stand completely upright, but rather lean way over the sink. That will keep you from getting all wet.

So they DO just use pliers??? It's hard to believe it won't hurt! My teeth get alot more sensitive when they remove the wire becaause of the pressure relief. That makes it hurt quite a bit when they put new ties on at adjustment time. But if they take out the wire, and then apply enough pressure--no...

How are brackets removed?

I have 6 to 9 months to go until my braces are off :jump: and now I was just getting curious about how the brackets will be removed. I heard somewhere on the forum that pliers are used :-(( ! I have alot of decalcification which makes my enamel kind of soft, so I worry that my teeth could be damaged...
