Well, I used tons of wax too. Then I switched to the silicone ear plugs and love it. They cost less and stay put better. As time went on I got used to the brackets and used less, but still use the silicone in the back at nite. Makes it easier to sleep. I cut my finger and tongue on the wire the day ...

My mouth was sore for a while. Sore cheeks from the brackets, sore teeth. Everything got better after a while, a week for my teeth, 2 weeks for my cheeks. The ony thing that hurts now is my front teeth when I bite something. But it's not bad. I'm sure you will feel better in a week. I didn't believe...

I have only uppers at this time. They have to move teeth around before I can have lowers or my to teeth will hit the lower brackets (or the other way around). The result is damage to teeth and brackets.

I also went to a few (3 I think) before I chose the one for me. It's a smaller office, not a chain. He's been in practice for 15 years and is very active in professional orgs in his field.

I had problems as well. Mush the wax around untill it's soft and make sure everything is dry. Your teeth, brackets, fingers, etc., I switched to silicone. It stays better for me. Hope this helps. I'm sure you will get more suggestions.Try everything and see what works for you. Good luck.

Yes....

I would pay extra for three years of more comfort. At least I would have liked to be given the choice. Working in the medcal field, I still find it hard to believe they can't make them more comfortable. Something I'm going o ask about at my next visit. I just thought it would be a fun question. :com...

Why ...

…is it that they can make an implant, small enough to fit inside the inner ear so you can hear :?: ... or an artificial vertebral joint and disc that can support your head and torso :? … but they cant make a bracket that has smooth edges that wont tear up your cheeks? :soremouth: Just wondering....

Dry Chapped lips

I've had my top only braces for 3 days and my lips are sooo dry. I've been drinking much more water ( I'm now craving salty things) and have used carmex, but they seem to be getting worse. Any ideas? Will this be a problem for the entire 3 years of braces? I'm afraid if I use chapstick kind of stuff...

Thanks everyone for the support. I did get the colgate rinse and it helps, as well as salt water. I load up on wax at night to get some sleep. It's weird, only some of my teeth hurt. My husband says I look cute in my braces, expecially when I have the wax on 'cause it makes my lips look like I'm pou...
