Re: Non-Surgical Expansion in Adults using MARPE - Success!
Hi, Good for you!! So many folks these days are too lazy to research. As patients, it is our DUTY to do due diligence IMO. I took a peek at your blog. Nicely done!! I see that you are in Cali. Would you mind sharing with the rest of us the name of your doc who did the MARPE and where located? Thanks.

According to this article on the "Tropic Premise," tongue position is very important indeed as far as beauty goes:

Need Tucson Orthodontist
Hi, A name was given to me of a local orthodontist who does surgical cases, but I do not like his work!! All of the photos of his patients in the gallery on the wall have drawn-in teeth -- you know, angled inward. This results in a "sunken" look that makes people look OLDER. Can anyone rec...

Anyone have an out-of-town orthodontist?
Hi all, Today I spoke with Dr. Gunson by phone. I live in Tucson, and unfortunately the orthodontist to whom I was referred by Dr. G's office no longer does surgical cases. :( Dr. G gave me some names in Phoenix. Aside from the obvious inconvenience of a road trip every time my braces need adjusting...

Re: Dr. Day in phoenix?
I have a friend who had surgery by Dr. Day. Long story short, she wound up VERY assymmetrical!! She tried to discuss this with Dr. Day, but his arrogance got in the way. On one occasion he made her cry he was so nasty to her. She finally gave up and went to Dr. Arnett for a do-over and is much happi...

Re: Arnett or Gunson in Santa Barbara?
For those of you you had more than one consultation (i.e., more than one surgeon), how much more expensive were Arnett and Gunson than those other guys?

Double Jaw Surgery versus Lower Advancement
Hi, I'm new here. I have read several posts of folks who had both jaws done and are unhappy with the aesthetic outcome, specifically what was done to the upper (maxilla). I have also read that there are several ways to correct jaw malalignment that may or not involve repositioning both jaws. So, my ...

Re: Age to start journey
For orthognathic surgery, the process starts with an orthodontist, who refers you to an oral surgeon if necessary. Really, many patients don't even meet with the surgeon for the first time until just a couple of weeks before surgery, which is after at least a year or so i...

Re: Thinking about jaw surgery
On a cosmetic basis, you may think you look fine, which is awesome, but no matter how "mild", I think having a misaligned jaw can lead to problems down the road. If you have the means to correct your bite now, I'd do it.
I echo this!!! By the ti...

I just wanted to add that "droopy cheekbones" that accompany aging can be addressed. My dermatologist offers injections for that.

Re: Which Kaiser Plan will cover my Jaw Surgery? Please help
Kaiser P insurance is awesome as far as orthognathic surgery goes -- at least, that's what I've been reading for years.
Unfortunately, K-P insurance is not available in Arizona.

Re: How long did everyone have braces before surgery
I think there is no "set" amount of pre-operative orthodontic time. Each case is unique.
There is a huge advantage to having braces that I don't see discussed much: They make you look years younger!

Re: Jaw surgery in Costa Rica
I am very interested in hearing more about having surgery in Costa Rica. Specifically, how did you find an orthodontist to work with the surgeon? Did the surgeon's practice give you a list of names? I am considering Dr. Gunson in Santa Barbara, but with recent Arizona insurance changes that may prov...
