You should take some ibuprofen or Tylenol about an hour before. Also put chapstick on before they start the process. Your lips get very dry from having your them spread open for so long. Good luck with your braces.

I am 53 and got my braces put on 7 weeks ago. The first week was difficult eating but other than that it hasn't been bad at all. I was so nervous for nothing. I go for my first adjustment on Monday so will probably be sore for a few days after. Hope everything keeps going good for you.

The hooks are for rubber bands which you will eventually get to. I have had all my braces on for 2 weeks now and have had to use wax off and on. I ordered a portable water pik from Amazon and I only paid around $35 for it. It works great and I am able to take it to work with me.

I do a half of banana, spinach, frozen mixed berries a little yogurt, almond milk and a scoop of vanilla protein powder. It's very tasty.

I went with the full metal because it was so much more expensive to go with the ceramic. I don't regret my choice at all. I'm actually glad I chose the metal after I read that people had a hard time getting used to the ceramic because the brackets are little bulkier.

Everyday im getting more used to that feeling of a full mouth of medal. Just hope the rubbing stops soon. Thank god for the wax. Eating is still weird with all the food getting stuck in the brackets. Yuck!!! I'm sure I'll get used to that too.

Day 2 and my teeth are very sensitive. Brushing was ok but, I Definitely am sticking to soft foods. Had one bracket rub a canker sore so I put wax on it and it feels much better now. Couple days of soft foods and I think it will feel much better. Hope everyone else is doing good!!

Chippy3000 good luck tomorrow. Remember to take Advil or Tylenol before you go, and don't forget the chapstick. Your lips will get really dry with the spreaders being in for so long. Let us know how it goes.

Yeah I'm a little nervous for the rest to go on but today is not bad at all. I'm glad that they did it this way because now I can at least get used to feel of the braces before they do the rest. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

They cleaned my teeth first then put a little bit of glue on but not on the whole tooth. Then they put each bracket on then cured them with a light to each bracket.
