Am I being too much of a perfectionist?
Whose teeth weren't 100% perfectly straight when they finished their orthodontic treatment? Is it common that braces can only do so much? My braces are due to come off sometime after my next visit and I feel like the upper left lateral isn't completely straight and the incisor next to it isn't compl...

How did you go in the end? I'm in the same boat as you - my ortho wants them to come off after my next visit but in my eyes they're certainly not perfect.

Re: Non-Surgical Palatal Expansion in Adults
Whilst it's definitely a controversial topic, I've found that non-surgical palatal expansion has really worked for me, and has given me a much wider jaw/smile without extractions.

Re: Rough day, need some uplifting spirits.
The time goes by so quickly and it'll be over before you know it. Don't stress about how much time you have left and focus on the fact you're going to have amazing teeth for the rest of your life when you're done (and you're still so young - I'm an almost 28 year old brace face). And I'm with the ot...

Re: Adult braces and professional life
I was worried before getting braces, but it's never impacted my professional life. I'm in a front facing job role and deal with hundreds of different customers and work colleagues (big company) and no-one has ever said anything except to ask for advice or say my teeth are looking good!

Re: What are your worst braces symptoms?
I've never really experienced noticeable pain with my braces (weird, huh?). My only annoyances have been ulcers (which were only in the first few months) and the terrible yellow staining of the elastics with pretty much anything I ate.

Re: White spots- treat it with braces on or after?
I haven't experienced white spots but I have experienced bad plaque build up/orange staining around the brackets that could only be removed by a clean at the dentist. We are always our own worst critics and I'm sure no-one else notices, so try and not worry too much! I'd definitely recommend against...

Re: Spitting on Other People
I find myself accidentally spitting on people regularly... Unfortunately it always seems to happen to strangers or customers at work, rather than people I know and am close to haha

Re: Getting braces in two weeks- very nervous
How exciting! Don't stress, the time passes so quickly and you're going to love the result. I'm almost 28 and about to get my metal braces off after 17 months (my parents were never able to afford them) and the time has flown by. I deal with hundreds of customers a day in a front facing role and it'...

Re: What does "tipping out the teeth" mean?
In the context you're referring to, I think 'tipping' means pushing the teeth outwards within the constraints of the jaw (without true bone expansion), but there is a risk that the teeth can be slanted outwards if expansion is done too quickly in adults. I've heard the argument that you can't expand...
