I turn my palatal expander all the time by myself .Just tie a shoe lace on the end of it and tie it to your wrist ,works great .you know when you have turned it when you feel some presure on you teeth not to much though.Glad I am not alone anymore I have had mmine in for months. Summergirl

yea ,expanders stink,never really gets better sorry to say.Mine is coming out soon but not soon enough for me.I find soft food like cheese to be easier to eat.Then brush and floss,use water pick right after eating.Ever try eating pizza crust ouch!!!! its nothing to worry about .It will go away in time just don't use salt water just use warm water .Salt will only make it worse .Your taste buds are irratated ,watch what you eat the next few days no salty or acidy stuff tomatoes ,apples ect.

yea ,I know I would go to an ortho and not a school.You pay for what you get ....I would rather pay an exrta 1000 to have it done right.After all this is how the world is going to see you every day.Just my opinion though...GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I would keep going untill you feel comfortable with the ortho.I went to one and I felt I was in an assembly line.So I would keep making appointments untill your are totaly comfortable ,because you will be seeing him or her for about 2-3 years so make it a good one.I wish you the best of luck and don...
