I did not have the surgery but did have the expander in for just 2 weeks shy of one year.Braces went on a few months later.Tops and then a few months later bottoms.Braces are a breeze compared to the expander.

people are sooo crule its sad .I would never say anything like that.I feel sooooo sorry for you .Just remember it is not as bad as it seems and keep a smile on your face in no time it is going to be a BEAUTIFUL one.

liania ,i to am over thrilled I got my expander off 2 weeks early .It has only been on just about 1 YEAR .It was horriable I was soooooo depressed I couldn't even come to this site.I just hated it soooooooooo much I could not talk saying (thank you ,east ,meet ,meat,eat ,great meatball) was so hard ...

I know how you feel ,I felt the same way ,in fact it got so bad Ihad enough and asked him to take it out.You are soooo right you just can't talk with it.They should tell you but don't because I think they know people wouldn't get it don't and I sure the heck is 1 of them.On the better side of things...

Maybe you turned the key to many times.Try turning it back a few times.See if that helps ,if not call your ortho today,don t suffer in pain.If the pain does not go away then there is a problem some where.

Hi Sillygirl I had a very very hard time getting used to mine too.I know how you feel.You can try maylox it is very soothing rinse several times a day.I found salt water irritated mine. Everyone is different though.Try it see if it helps,please post if it does. Summergirl

I too have felt your pain,I took ibprofrin around the clock also used heat packs and heating pad.In my opinion I feel heat works the best on jaw pain.Ice is only good for swelling.I know how much you hurt trust me I have been there.You are right it is worse than childbirth.Childbirth pain goes away ...
