Rubber band from hell? Not really
I would like to share my experience with class 2 elastic (rubber band) that my doc has recently added to my treatment (24/7). It connects my top left canine with last left bottom molar. Right after getting in in my mouth it didn't bother me at all. After couple of hours it started to hurt. Before be...

Re: Beware "Holistic" Dentists
Some scientific proof/stats on "certain cultures having healthier teeth without dentists and regular brushing" ? Sounds like stereotype to me.

Re: Regretting my decision
If the wires are poking use the wax for temporary relief. Your mouth will get used to the poking (a little scars will form and that's pretty much it). If they are poking really bad then see your orthodontist, they will trim them. Easy.

Re: Regretting my decision
I am over 3 months into treatment and not very long ago I was feeling exactly the same. First 2-3 weeks are the worst. Salivating, lisp, inability to eat anything solid, teeth feeling like they were going to fall out :) I felt very depressed for couple of days. Like clinically depressed :) I got muc...

Re: Temporary "brace" behind front teeth - can't chew proparly, molars don't touch, is this normal?
It looks like they have installed a permanent orthodontic retainer. It is usually installed after the braces are removed. It does not seem like you have undergone any orthodontic treatment so it is kind of weird. I would go and first see your dentist to make sure all your teeth are healthy and then ...

Re: Bring jaw forward without surgery?
Do you have overbite (do your top teeth cover your bottom teeth completely or almost completely when you close them and smile)? When I got braces and they made the molar buildups to correct the overbite my lower jaw was moved forward a lot immediately. I has just been one month since I started brace...

Ha, thanks Angelina that sounds good. I think after 9 days I am eating better already and the tenderness is the main limiting factor as exactly as you said. I do have have like 10 extra pounds to loose so this may not be such a bad thing :)

How long will I have to live with buildups?
Got braces 6 days ago. I have buildups on my top first premolars due to the deep bite. Except the front teeth, these are the only ones that touch the bottom ones. The gaps between the tom and bottom molars are so big I can almost stick my tongue between them. I am kind of getting used to this but ea...

Home made kefir. Get some kefir grains and start manufacturing :) Kefir is great for variety of things the most important one being the natural "good bacteria" that help your stomach to stay healthy. And it really improves the taste of any shake by adding sourness to it.

Re: Any advice on TMD with braces
Yeah, I got braces 5 days ago and obviously my teeth are sore so whenever my body attempts to clench my teeth when I'm asleep I wake up :) So, in a weird way braces are preventing me from clenching :)

Re: Curved tooth roots
No idea, but theoretically the general rule would apply here - if there is pressure on the bone the bone gives way to the tooth's root and empty space is filled with a new bone. So, that should not be different that any other tooth movement in the bone. But I just got my braces a few days ago and no...

Hello - got braces at 36
Well, almost 37. Got ceramic braces top and bottom for crooked top right #2 and deep bite. My estimated treatment time is 18 months. Today is the day #3 and it definitely hurts but I was warned. I have buildups on top #4s so can't really chew absolutely anything :/ Feeling a little miserable but rea...
