Has anyone ever changed from clear to metal braces?

My ortho told me that removing clear braces is much more painful than metal. I have clear and was just wondering if anyone has switched over and also how painful it is when they are finally removed.

Thx

Got second opinion; relieved and ANGRY at current ortho

Hi, For anyone who may have read earlier posts, I sought a second opinion today regarding my bottom teeth flaring out (almost in front of top teeth) and my ex ortho told me I was doing it by pushing my tongue against teeth. I thought that sounded strange because I never did that before. I have looke...

Oh Please, I Need Advice

Hi there, I understand completely how you feel. I have clear braces on top and bottom and am 41 yrs old. In my case, my bottom teeth have pushed out and are creating an open bite and my bottom lip sticks out much further than it did before braces. I hate to look in the mirror most days because of ho...

Anyone know process involved in switching orthos?

Well, I am definitely dropping current ortho, but I have not yet contacted her to see about any refunded money, etc. I have another dr I am going to see but the decision is made in my mind either way. If anyone has gone thru this can they shed some light on what they had to do; did you have to sign ...

Anyone ever changed Ortho's because unhappy with treatment?

I am seriously considering changing Orthos because I am not happy with the treatment/progress and their lack of concern about my concerns. After my second wire was put on, my bottom teeth began flaring out almost beyond my front teeth. I asked to see Ortho before my next visit but she was on vacatio...

Does your Ortho see you before adjustments/wire changes?

Hi, For anyone who read my previous post I wrote about how my ortho doesn't take time to answer questions and at today's adjustment, even tho I previously requested to speak with her before any work was done, the tech said "Well, we have to put on a thicker wire." My teeth had shifted dram...

I had four or five loose brackets my first month, most of them came off because they were on crowns. It is harder to get them to stick to crowns. I also had one pop off while I was doing nothing and one just hours after I had a new wire put on. It was upsetting because I didn't want to deal with the...

Thx for the responses re: Ortho too busy to answer questions

Thanks to each and every one of you who responded, I got some good suggestions and it was helpful. My anxiety started when I called Ortho at home because she was going to be out for about 10 days and I told her I was getting stressed about the movement my teeth were taking. I wanted to know if it wa...

Orthodontist too busy for questions, is this common?

Hi all, I am sure that I have a big 'D' for difficult on my chart at the orthodontist's office. The reason is because I ask a few questions about treatment, etc. They act as if I am asking for something totally inappropriate. I am 40 yrs old and maybe they are used to dealing with children who don't...

Re: expanders

Hi there, I had a quad helix expander for about 6 mos and the first few days I was beginning to think I had made an awful mistake but as hard as it may be for you to believe right now, it does get better. Food getting stuck in it is an issue but you will get good at using your tongue to loosen food ...

Question about elastics - HELP!

Hi, I am 40 yrs old and do not yet have braces, however I have a quadhelix appliance. My ortho glued some brackets on the outside of my upper molars and on the inside of my lower molars. She is trying to widen my teeth and at the last visit she put elastics on (the right side only) attaching them to...

Hi, I too have a sensitivity to painkillers. They can make me feel really sick but I have found that if I take a 1/4 or 1/2 of one every three hours or so along with a few ibuprofen them I am okay. Remember to eat before taking them too. While vicoden has helped with pain I think the ibuprofen helpe...

Spacers and party

Spacers were very painful for me for several days. My teeth are tight so there wasn't a lot of room so maybe it was worse for me. They were a constant distraction for at least a few days if not longer but it did get better. It could interfere with your having fun at the party so given my experience ...
