Re: Poll: At What Age Did You Get Your Braces?
I had them placed just before my 29th birthday. I will get them off right around my 30th birthday. There is a 51 year old woman in my office (who visits the same Ortho I found out!) who has had braces for a year.

Re: When will it get easier to eat?
Day 5 was my turning point. That is the last day that I hurt too bad to eat.
You're right on the cusp... I promise it will be better from here on out! P.s. Mashed potatoes were my best friend during "the first 5"

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.
I guess you can say that I am a rebel as well. I only brush twice a day now (oops!) After the first 2(or 3, or 4) cups of coffee in the morning, and before bed. I floss every other day...ish. I don't like to use mouthwash as I get the colored stringy stuff stuck on my wires, which requires brushing ...

Re: New here with Adult Braces!
Hey all! It has been quite a while since I have checked in! I am 6 months in now. Wearing 19 on 25 (? whatever that means) wires. Power chains in 6 weeks at my next adjustment. Still looking at another 6 months or so. I was looking back at pics and I can't believe the change! This was 5 1/2 months a...

Re: My 12 Month Journey
Hi Katie, In my experience, pain has never been an indication of progress and throughout my treatment I had very little pain and at best, a little soreness now and again particularly after moving up to a stiffer wire. Some people report a lot of pain during their treatment and everyone is different...

Re: My 12 Month Journey
Here are my initial visit photos, compared to Monday's photos. Again please disregard my previous lack of care for my teeth resulting in fillings as a child. I am much more diligent now as an Adult :) I do believe I see change! 6 weeks down, 46 to go! http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f259/katreena0...

Re: My 12 Month Journey
Update; 1 day post 1st adjustment! I can honestly say that there isn't any pain or discomfort, just a little more pressure, if that makes sense. Makes me a little nervous though... you know the saying "No Pain, No Gain"???! Hopefully this isn't the case!

Re: My 12 Month Journey
Starting out. Don't mind all my fillings. I took horrible care of my teeth as a child  http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f259/katreena05/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-05/A6D18F4F-E8D2-4831-B996-3C100C410703.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f259/katreena05/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-05/DC157AF5-D9BF-40...

My 12 Month Journey
Hey there! :-1 I am Katie, and 29 with new braces! I had them as a child when I was 7 for 2 years. Long story short; not wearing my retainer, and my wisdom teeth coming in, made them crooked again :-+ Here is before, May 1st, 2016 http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f259/katreena05/02d92dff-6ce5-4d1f-...

I can definitely see movement already! Your bite is considerably less open! It's amazing how quickly these "torture devices" can move things along! Congrats!

Re: What is this in my mouth?!
I was thinking it's an odd location for a coil as well, because I can't see why I would need more space right there either. To me it looks like the tooth just needs some rotation? The flat piece of metal is attached to the coil. I still can't find any info on it. It isn't bothering me at all, I am j...

What is this in my mouth?!
I posted this on another thread, but figured I would make a topic as well. I have this extra little flat metal, coil area... does anyone have an idea of what it is? I don't have an ortho appointment (my first adjustment... eek!) for 2 1/2 more weeks. I feel a little dumb, like I should know what it ...

Re: New here with Adult Braces!
So I left the clear ligs on the bottom as they were not stained. I do have a question though. What is this extra piece of metal attached to my wire? I keep forgetting to ask the ortho. May be a dumb question, but I can't find it on the trusty Google http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f259/katreena05/...
